Smithville, in all its glory, is essentially a "living museum" town that owes most of its charm to the fact that many of its buildings are either remnants from colonial time, or they were patterned loyally after similar such buildings. Like most museums, it's kind of interesting and exceedingly boring. It's quaint and charming, I can't deny. There's a cute little candy shop, a cheesemaker, some candle-selling boutiques, a couple middling restaurants, tons of knicknack stores, and so many little tchotchke places that they could clog an ocean. None of these are good enough to fit in an average mall, and ALL of these are overpriced by at least 30%. But the sweet, historic, 18th century nature of the place makes it almost worth the time and money. Almost.

Quaint little village, a must see especially during the holiday season. This was my first visit here and I was impressed. There is a little something for everyone here. Candy stores, yummy bakeries, gifts for pets, places to eat, some really unique shops that were pretty crowded and hard to shop in. Some had to be skipped over but I'll get them next time! There is a talking Christmas tree in the center square after you cross over the bridge and an open air train ride for kids and adults. And of course, you cannot miss the musical trees on the water light show which starts at 5:30! There is plenty of free parking for this village. In the village itself, to the left of it there is a large lot, and also directly across the street.

This review is for the Village Greene in Levittown, New York. First the positive. The whole staff, from the front desk to the people keeping the facility clean are the best. The staff, the people that you will be interacting with are always pleasant and friendly. You will be happy and content that these people are taking great care of your love ones. Now the negative. Please read the contract you sign very carefully. Unfortunately, if you are like me, I usually do not take the time to read any contract very carefully. The first person you will be dealing with is the sales manager. I can spend a whole page talking about her but I will reduce her personality in a few words, Used Car Saleswomen. She took me and my daughter on a tour of the facility. She was friendly and very accommodating. However, she never told us that we could not visit with my mother in her private room because of the Covid. I found out this information after I transported my Mom from the rehab she was in to Village Greene. Also it was after I signed the check for startup fees and the months rent. I mentioned it to management but they told me that my daughter and I must of misremembered. That's strike one. Now lets talk about strike two. Yesterday, I went to the facility to pay the bill for the upcoming month. I was over charged 665 dollars from the previous month. My mom had medical issues which prevented her transport to Village Greene for 5 days. They credited our account for the care portion of the five days, not Moms residents, which is the 665 dollar overcharge. The business person that I met once before, who assured be Id be credited for the five days; my sister and my Moms sister were at this meeting, said it was only a partial credit. I mentioned that I'll pay the full amount, but no more surprises. After I wrote and signed the check, this business manager, you'll know her from her inappropriate tattoo she proudly shows off, walked away from my Mom and me in mid sentence. I wasn't happy. So that's the deal. The staff is great, the management,...
