The Rex Museum is one of those nice little "hole in the wall" museums that has alot of local history and is staffed by locals who have an abiding lifelong interest in their local history. I definitely recommend it. It is also noteworthy that the Building it self has its fair share of history.
For many years this building (300 W 66th) was the location of Tom's Variety & Hobby Supply. Tom's Variety was the local Model Airplane supply store and home to the Gallup Model Airplane Club. Tom's Variety was owned and operated by Ed Shibata, a local born first generation Japanese American, and decorated WWII combat veteran of the 442 combat infantry battalion, which is the most highly decorated unit in American mitary history.
