Nestled in the heart of Jamaica Beach in Galveston Island Texas, Palapa Bar & Restaurant transports you to an open-air layout complete with a nice view of the marina creating a relaxed and laid-back vibe.
Service: This was our second time dining here and amazingly not all staff at Palapa Bar & Restaurant truly enjoy their work which you will see reflected on some reviews. Luckily, we were blessed with being serviced by Larry who went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. This restaurant doesn't seem to grasp the concept of a hostess or host. The two times we've been here we have seated ourselves. Most of the staff favor large gatherings and attended to them as priority. Last night we were pleasantly surprised when Larry greeted my wife and I and asked if we had been helped. Larry was knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful suggestions, making us feel well taken care of throughout our visit. His genuine enthusiasm and dedication to customer satisfaction were evident and greatly contributed to the overall positive experience.
Cuisine: The menu at Palapa Bar & Restaurant showcases a tempting array of local seafood. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the chef's special, featuring parmesan crusted grouper and a perfectly cooked melody of french green beans and peppers complemented with homemade mashed potatoes. The dishes were beautifully presented, highlighting the vibrant colors and textures of the ingredients. The flavors were well-balanced, with each bite bursting with freshness and a delightful combination of spices.
Beverages: The beverage selection at Palapa Bar & Restaurant was equally impressive. The bar offers a wide range of signature cocktails, including their renowned piƱa coladas and margaritas, skillfully prepared with premium ingredients. The tropical-inspired drink options perfectly complemented the atmosphere, allowing us to sip our way into vacation mode. Additionally, the bar offers a selection of local and international beers, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring that there is something for everyone.
Conclusion: Palapa Bar & Restaurant is a true gem within 15 minutes of Galveston Island State Park, offering a slice of paradise with its beautiful bayfront location and delectable cuisine. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner by the bay, a fun gathering with friends, or a refreshing drink on a sunny day, this tropical oasis has it all. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Palapa Bar & Restaurant to indulge in a culinary journey that will leave you yearning to return again.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis local place was super yummy. The servings were great sized. The food was freshly cooked and well deserving of all the stars. The server seemed a little spread thin, but other than that it was fantastic! The bowl of soup is larger than your face just know that up front. The tacos are fresh and delicious about the shrimp and fish. The coconut shrimp was fabulous and the fries were perfection with the perfect crunch. The gumbo had a slight kick just like you like enough to break up your sinuses while keeping with that traditional flavor. The lobster bisque was creamy and delicious with huge chunks of lobster all throughout. This place is worth your time and have some great photo...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThought this would be a great location for a couple drinks. Ended up sitting under what appeared to be a bird sanctuary. Birds all over the tables and chairs, walking along the cables overhead. One took a dump on the chair beside us. Keep your food & drinks covered. Speaking of drinks, they were terrible; nothing but sugar. Mine had a spicy chille rim that the menu failed to mention, or they made incorrectly. We'll never know because our server never came to ask how anything was. We scooted out of there...
