Ā Ā Ā Read moreDecent range, though pricing has gone up since the first time I came here. My main gripe with this location is the condition of their equipment and lane rooms. This place seriously needs a good renovation. Everything looks run down and very old. Equipment missing parts, ceiling seems on the edge of collapsing. AC didn't seem to work as we were constantly sweating. We kept having to constantly wipe the sweat off our faces. Don't know if the air is getting sufficiently ventilated.
Another gripe is the way you mount your targets. They have these clips, which aren't really visible, that you attach your targets to. They take a bit of getting used to but after a bit you can attach your targets by just sense of touch. Like a dummy I always forget to measure the distance between them so I can know what the smallest targets I can fit comfortably are. For those who have their paper targets rolled up, make sure you try to flatten them before arriving or else they'll want to roll up while hanging. I've yet to try their rifle lanes, so I currently have no idea if those use the same setup for attaching targets. I would assume so.
I don't purchase any firearms through these guys, since like most other local shops, they're overpriced. Many owners with AKs will have to look elsewhere since the ammo is not allowed. They say the steel casing is fine, but that the bullet itself is what has the steel that's the problem. I'm not familiar with any steel case ammo without bimetal bullets (though I'm sure there are exceptions), even steel cased handgun ammo isn't allowed. With shotguns they allow birdshot and buckshot (no steel shot). IMO, this location is good for those with multiple calibers/firearms, as long as all your ammo is brass cased and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLove this place, they monitor via closed circuit TV, never messing with you, unless you are acting like a fool on the line (which I have seen). The range isn't some pretty princess BS overpriced range that serves Cappuccino by some bombshell half dressed waitress. This range is very functional and anytime I go, everything works from the mechanical target rails to the fans for air.
You can ask for assistance if you are a new shooter for a reasonable fee. they have good house ammo, never had one round jam yet, they have nice loaners; so you can get the feel for almost any weapon they carry if you are looking to buy or just shoot if you are visiting.
Basically this is a family owned and operated range/store. they are fun and friendly but there are a couple guys there that are kind of dry, but once you get to know them, you will see it is just the way they are, nothing harmful or mean. They are very serious about gun safety and expect you to be also. I NEVER had a bad experience here! I have even taken people here to teach how to shoot, they are always willing to lend a hand or advice on any aspect of gun safety to buying that just right firearm for YOU.
Range Fee are not too bad No Harassing goose stepping know it all stomping around yelling Lots of rental/loaners to shoot Good House Ammo Almost always have the target you want (from the display they show) CHL Classes Knowledgeable Staff, Friendly and Professional, they treat everyone the same, no preferential treatment that I have ever seen.
If you buy a firearm from them, take their CHL Class and get Legal Representation from Texas Law Shield! Best damned money...
