Deep within the revitalized Glen Echo Park now full of artisans and craftsmen lies a wonderful, hidden gem known as Adventure Theatre, a theater known for putting on quality family entertainment. I had the opportunity to see their latest production, Miss Nelson is Missing, a story about a misbehaving class, a mysterious substitute teacher (Ms. Viola Swamp), and a powerful lesson learned-- that nearly every elementary school age student has probably checked out of the library at one time or another. Indeed, my son cowered behind me as he asked the ticket taker if Ms. Viola Swamp was inside-- he certainly didn't want her as a substitute!
What the lesson the children learned that day is, I'll never tell, but know that the energetic and enthusiastic cast greeted everyone outside the exit doors and if your children bring copies of the book (or buy it there) the cast will gladly sign it and pose for pictures.

We felt this was disappointing, and a disservice to people who buy a season pass to support the theater. It would make sense to hold a small number of seats for flex pass holders, and give them a chance to get tickets before releasing those seats. I'm glad they have demand for the show(s), but we decidedly would not buy the pass...

Children of all ages will cheer with laughter and joy throughout the show, and parents would feel like they’re kids again when seeing their beloved characters learn their true valuable lessons on life and encouragement.
