St Helen Catholic Church — Attraction in Glendale

I must say that the people here are friendly and welcoming. HOWEVER, I don't think it's appropriate for the young lady carrying the body of Christ to wear booty shorts. I love the casual dress, but the elders need to tell some women and young ladies how to dress! She should have not had short shorts on in church. I’m sorry to say but not once did I feel the spirit of God here!? I don’t know.. I just didn’t feel it in this church. The everyone on the alter is so lazy, they don’t even stand half the time when praying or preaching. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.” Matthew 7:13 I feel like this mass and everyone up there is just lazy and want the easy way.. I rather find a church that takes the narrow path and put actual effort...

Recently, with feelings of depression beginning to set in, I left a message for St Helens (St Vincent de Paul) as with several other churches/agencies re a crisis that I was experiencing. St Helen's was the only one that returned my call the same day. The person listened to my story explaining my dilemma and the way this organization came to the rescue was nothing short of a miracle. Their concern and willingness to assist went up, over and beyond the call of their duty. I was left absolutely speechless and extremely grateful of how they answered God's calling in the most expedient, efficient and caring way ever imagined. This is my new parish after moving here from Connecticut. I'm short I love it. The church itself is beautiful and quite big. The church itself is pretty albeit less decorative than St George in Guilford but there's a certain calmness and sereneness to it that I find very welcoming. I'm glad I'm here. I need to make an appointment to meet the priest. The other parishioners seem to be very nice and welcoming without being overbearing as some church goers can be. There's a small gift shop on site which the shopper in me loves. They have a nice selection of rosarys too. I was very sad to leave St George and I was sure I would never find a church I would love just as much but the Lord does know what you need and provides for that.
