Silver Lake Resort and Campground — Attraction in Golden Township

The nightlife is absolutely terrible. Our group had 28 children with 22 adults.

The children would take their RC cars and drive them along the roads and would be told not to. The children would be riding their bicycles after dark and would be told not to.

The adults(22 of them) would sit around the fire and do camping things, socialize. The resort “security” came by and told us it was quiet time(11:00pm). We turned the music off as asked. We continued to sit around the fire and socialize. “Security” came back and again told us “it is 11:00pm and it’s quite time”. The third time “Security” came and told us “the party is over, time to call it a night”. The gentleman was terribly rude and was making a big issue out of nothing. Our group had paid for and had been staying on a whole block of sites, 11 sites back to back. So we did not disrupt or bother anyone. The old timer security guard couldn’t be done “working” until everyone was in bed so therefore we had to stop our vacation to please him.

The next morning we spoke with the neighbors on both sides of the road across from our 11 sites. No one heard us or had been bothered by our socializing.

Saturday night the resort put on a movie night. The children rode their bicycles to the area of the movie. When the movie was done, the children started to ride their bicycles back to the camp sites. “Security” stopped the children and told them if they saw them again they would take their bicycles. A short time later “security” stopped them again and told the children they where taking their bicycles because they were still riding. The children hadn’t even made it back to the sites. This is completely unacceptable and management should be ashamed of this type of interaction, especially with children.

Other than being regulated to what times you can and can’t socialize, the bathrooms and showers are amazingly clean. The pool was clean and extremely chlorinated- no chance of Covid-19 living.

When we book a large trip with a large group, it is to socialize, not go to bed at 11:00pm. I can’t speak for the whole group, but I will not be returning. Adults can’t be adults, let alone...

A great campground. Judging from the other area campgrounds, we had the nicest. But just because I feel this is the nicest, doesn't mean the other campgrounds didn't look great, we just had a great experience. Check in was easy and quiet times are followed by the guests. The only problem we experienced was the vehicles parked at the cabins would constantly blind us at night while enjoying the campfire. I might suggest a site that is not on the end of the row near the cabins because of this. The office has a great store with a lot of necessities like Mike and eggs as well as candy and soft drinks. There were also flip flops, and fire starters as well as some other things that help make the stay that much better. The firewood for sale is reasonably priced and stored in a shed to keep the wood dry. The pool area is very clean and was a very pleasant experience. The location of this campground is close enough to the dunes, but far enough away to give it a nice woodsy experience. The lots unfortunately are not paved and are quite uneven. Plan for some blocks or planks under your tires to help level your trailer.

There appeared to be wireless Internet available here, but we were able to use our star link for Internet access.

The camp ground is clean and well up keep facility. but if you plan to ride at the dunes and have a good time don't go here at 11:00 pm you will be told to quit talking and quiet down. the cabin was next to us was playing a game on her cell phone which the security guard acting like there was a murder occurring ran over and told her to shut it off i paid good money for a good time and we was not disturbing anyone which i asked all the other campers around and they couldn't even hear us and we still was told by the rent-a-cops to quiet down The manager witch was polite to me came and spoke to me about one of my friends camping with me about going to a different camp site and talking so if you would like a lights out at 11 pm go have fun but if you like to sit by the fire and talk good luck i would not recommend this place if they would control the security guard it wouldn't be a bad place but i don't think that talking while on vacation around a campfire is a bad thing. i have went to many campground in many other states and done the same thing with zero complaints from anyone including other security guard...
