The NP that worked with me was condescending and instead of focusing on any kind of symptoms, spent his time with me harping on the fact that I need to see a specialist. I informed him, at least three times, that I was in the works of figuring out insurance for a specialist and that I was only at Banner Urgent Care that day for comfort in the short-term while I waited for the referral from my PCP to go through to the specialist. Each and every time I would repeat myself he would just keep saying the same thing, making me feel horrible about even coming to your facility and clearly not listening to the steps I had in place.
It took me breaking down in tears to him and asking how many times I need to reiterate what I was saying to get it through to him. I even had told him the name of the specialist but it went in one ear and out the other.
Now that I think about it, I didn’t even speak about my symptoms with him. He never really asked, only the nurse before he came in asked about them. He only came in and ignored everything I was trying to tell him, made me feel invalidated, and scared and upset me.
I have never felt so unheard and invalidated by a medical professional. The empathy and bedside manner wasn’t there at all. He came back in and apologized but at that point I just wanted to get away from him. While he was running tests I almost walked out because of how upset I was. After I left the appointment I just went out to my car and cried. I have never felt this way about a medical professional in my life.
He also scared me by mentioning that if I don’t go see a specialist and “continue to let these problems go on” it could cause damage to my internal systems. He said this after I had already repeated multiple times that I was working on going to see a specialist. Thank you, I already knew that was a risk. I had already told him my plan for action. There was no reason to scare me more. I left feeling worse than when I came in.
Many of your patients feel horrible enough when they come to see you, there’s no reason to make them feel any more horrible. The process of finding medical coverage for myself has already been hard enough. There’s definitely no reason that I should’ve felt so unheard. I feel super disappointed and now afraid to even go see any other Banner-related professionals because of how upsetting and traumatizing the experience was for me.
This is the first review I’ve ever left, let alone a negative one. But I would never recommend this NP to anyone. It seemed like he cared more about “being right” than he did about the human being sitting in front of him.
As a future medical professional, this experience showed me exactly how I never want to treat my patients or make them feel. Patients...
Read morePoor, very poor experience with the staff all around. They were unwilling to provide necessary care for my young daughter. Not only did the medical assistant embarrass my daughter while she was hurting he continued to laugh at her while collecting vitals. The physician assistant or Nurse practitioner, whatever her credentials were was too busy sitting on a soap box lecturing about the overuse of antibiotics informing us to use Advil and a humidifier to treat terrible sinus infection. She then Poked my daughter in the middle of her forehead with her pointer finger once asking "does this hurt"? Then sent us away promptly as though we were wasting her time. She told us we are welcome to come back another day, pay for another visit for someone else's opinion. Within 12 hours I requested the medical professional to follow up as my daughters symptoms were becoming more severe. No surprise there was none. Unfortunately for us this was a Friday evening visit. My daughter had to wait till Monday to see a real physician assistant who properly identified the sinus infection by visually seeing her face swollen and properly pressing around the sinus cavity. We were then prescribed antibiotics by a true medical professional. The story goes on with the lack of care Banner gives to their patients. I received a robocall to take a survey about our care and it then hung up on me when I prompted to take a survey. I have left messages about our service and unfortunately the 1 call I received to handle my complaint came in a week later and happened to be just before the gal left for the weekend. I have called and left a few messages for her to reach back out and.....cricket...cricket. Also know there is rarely a real Dr. at this facility. We will NEVER BE BACK! More about the $$$ less about the care. Also know the staff will refer you to a complaint # that fails to connect you to the...
Read moreUnprofessional front desk staff Kayla. Was busy chatting away ignoring my husband as he waited to be checked in. When he interrupted her she snapped at him. She finished her conversation then was short with him during the check in process. After being checked in and taken to a room by nurse, my husband explains how we just moved here this week from Idaho and that we need to establish care, but he sees an E.N.T. for ear infections and sinus infections that he gets several times a year, and that he has been suffering with his ears and sinuses for 3 days now and that he drives semi truck and just barely had time to go into quick care but really needs to be seen since he can develop severe infections and proceeds to give her his health history. When provider walks in, she is holding a book. Without even looking at my husband she says " you have to try alternative forms of treatment for 48 to 72 hours before we can treat you here! That is what the book says!" My husband is shocked. She has not even done any kind of exam and tells him she wont see him. So he then says, "I have a history of clausteotomas and see an ENT for my chronic issues..." She interrupts him and says. "You have to try other forms of self treatment for 48 to 72 hours before We can see or treat you. That is what the book says!! " as she points to a medical book she is holding. She obviously never read his health history, nor ever planned on seeing him. Very unprofessional. My husband than says, "I am obviously wasting your time and mine " he got...
