March to March: Mount Rainier National Park Travel Guide | Experience a Snowy Spectacle

Wonderful oasis in the heart of mountains. The visitor center is beautiful with the exhibit, gift shop, and cafe. It's a popular place on weekends and in summer so prepare to wait for parking or park on Valley Road and take hike back to the center. Lot of smazing hikes originating at the center for all age groups. Myrtle Falls trail is doable with kids and is also wheelchair friendly. Please be couteous and park only in the designated area. When we visited, it was one of the free park days, and people parked pretty much where they found space even though it meant blocking way for others. Rangers did give them tickets. Overall, it was a nice place to spend a day taking in the mountain vibes.

Visited Friday, June 14, 2024. So pretty. I love Mount Rainier. 10/10. Will go again. But at this time of the year you won’t see any meadows yet. Go in July if you wanna see the wild flower meadows. Beware that’s peak season, so make sure to come early and do time reservation or you won’t find any parking. I went in June, got there around 8 and by 9 it’s already packed (we were hiking back from the snow).

Atrocious parking situation makes it impossible to give this a higher rating. Absolutely beautiful park with some of the best views I've ever seen, but the parking lot is just terribly designed. So much empty road that isn't being utilized.

At the very least, a shuttle that drives in circles around the visitor center that drops people off from their parking spot to the top would be nice. But right now, I just can't recommend coming here unless you're a very patient person and don't mind hiking...
