I learned a very important lesson recently of the importance of backing up your phone and photos. I’ve had my phone for six years and during that time taken a number of photos during vacations, family photos, work photos, and projects around the house. One morning I woke up and my phone was completely dead and it would not respond to anything I did. I brought my phone into Tech Guru and talked with Matthew about my phone and he was very straightforward on what it likely could be and the costs of what each would cost. Ultimately there was an issue with the motherboard, so to recover the 2,000+ photos I had taken over the last six years, I opted for the repair option. It took a couple of weeks for the repair to get completed and I was contacted when it was ready to be picked up. At the end of it all, not only did I get all of my photos back, I also got an operational phone for backup if needed in the future. I am extremely grateful to Matthew and the team at Tech Guru for getting these precious memories back for me. Matthew was straight forward throughout the entire process, there were no surprises on the pricing, and he was super responsive on the status of the repair. I highly recommend Tech Guru for any tech repairs...
Read moreCharged $35 to “clean” my charging port at the east side location. As seen before. It’s outrageous that I wasn’t informed I was going to be charged before they took my phone back and started cleaning it. I could’ve done the same job at home myself. I would’ve never paid the price if I knew it was so expensive. They didn’t tested the port at the store after cleaning.
Edit in response- I never gave consent and agreed to the price before they took my phone and started cleaning. Warning to the public to hold on to your phone and agree to the terms before handing over your phone. There was no bench testing that I was informed of. I was told that the technician did the best he could and hopes it works out for me. Says a lot that I am not the first person it’s happened to. Recommending to everyone to stay clear...
Read moreCharged $35 to “clean” my charging port at the east side location. I’ve gone to the main store and they do it for free. I wouldn’t expect it for free ever but $35 is insane for 30 seconds of work, maybe $10-15. Didn’t even test if it was fixed and it still looks dirty.
Edit in response to owner: That’s fair and I agree, it shouldn’t be free but since it was free in the past, maybe a heads up that it’s now $35 instead? Which again is fine, charge what you can/want but there’s no way I would’ve agreed to pay that much for a job that took less than a minute. And it is still dirty and doesn’t charge unless the cord is...
