Taco Bell — Restaurant in Grand Forks

Too long; didn't read: sodas taste like mold, food quality is poor, service is lackluster, atmosphere is nonexistent.

I have had my share of Taco bell across the country. There have been mistakes made with my orders — the odd onesies and twosies — but nothing that wasn't overlooked on return visits. This small town establishment of a great chain has caused me some concern as of late. I've been in grand forks for just over 6 months. As such, my ability to speak for experiences prior to then is not possible. In the last half year, however, I have had instances of food being improperly prepared. From the semi-melted cheese, to the undercooked chicken, and to today's inspiration for this review: the spoiled soda machine. I'll be the first to admit that I will eat most of what is put in front of me, hot or cold. One thing that I'm unable to excuse is the inability to wash down whatever enters my gullet. The last few encounters I've resorted to dumping the drinks down the sink. Something about the drink tastes... ill. However the syrup or carbonation is mixed in makes me feel as though I am drinking mold. Hopefully this changes in the future. The the service is something to be desired considering that all my contact with the personnel have been through the PA box of the drive through. This is not by choice, the dining area is unable to be opened due to it's skeleton crew of employees. Unfortunately, this only tells me that this establishment is only one "I quit" away from closing down completely. This brings me to my final point, the atmosphere. I suppose it would be more appropriate to say the lack of atmosphere. Because of the dining rooms closure, the only other times I see other people is through the rearview window as they go through the drive through. The reviews that say "no wait for service" are fake. This Taco Bell has actually been on the local news for being so bad. But don't take my word for it and go there. The wait times can be outrageous. It has gotten better than a year or two ago, but better than 20-40 minutes is not saying much. Just drive by and you'll notice many cars in drive-thru. Come back later and you'll notice maybe one car has gotten their order.

The staff are usually alright people. They just don't want to work. But I would lay the blame on the franchise owner. They do not care about quality at all, and it shows at the bottom level. The only reason I'm giving two stars is for two things. The food tastes good, and it hasn't got me sick as of yet. Cleanliness, timeliness, and friendliness is where I give them bad marks. There's a lot of horsing around in the kitchen even with customers in plain sight, and there's even managers who walk away from the customer in the middle of order taking because she doesn't feel like taking orders so she finds someone playing around to do it. They do have a habit of messing up your order for any modification you make, though. Be warned about that. Even sometimes messing up really easy things such as giving you beef when you order steak or chicken. They just don't care and the owner doesn't care to improve this. I also do not recommend getting a fountain drink from there. Even just ice water. You're asking for an illness if you do. NOT KID FRIENDLY Right when you enter the building it smells like marijuana! The staff will ignore you, I waited for thirty minutes Trying to eat inside Watching cars 1, 2 , 3 ,4,5 Vehicles go by! Nobody who works there cares about their jobs! The dining room was disgusting! What I was more disgusted with was the staff!! I finally went up to the front and they gave me major attitude and gave us cold food! Something needs to be done about this place! The managers there tonight would not even acknowledge my family & I ! We're sitting there without any food for almost a good thirty minutes! Nobody at the tills, All in the freezer three went in the freezer and nobody came out with nothing! They are probably all smoking weed in the facility, because it stunk like it strong and badly!!
