Review for July 3,2022
My previous review was 5 Stars and I stand by it. The 2 Stars this visit is the result of endless advertising, annoying loud music, lack of transparency in wait times and RUDE customers at Silks.
-1 Star The wait for the fireworks was 65 minutes, during this time the buffet and bar were closed. Understandable but at the end of a long day, a beer would have been nice.
-1 Star for the constant advertising and really loud music during the 65 minute wait for fireworks. At no time did the park attempt to share it would be over an hour, but they did sell lots of advertisement space. Unreal
-1 Star for the RUDE people/group at Silks that fully believed that they could come into my private section to watch the fireworks. Nope! Chefs Table costs a premium, and YOU are not a part of my party. One guy refused to leave until a male in my party got up to say something AFTER I did. We will be moving to suites on levels 5 & 6 for next season. But our horses ran well!
Staff was great, food great and kids activities were great
Previous Review for May 7,2022
We reserved the Chefs Table at Silks and were pleasantly surprised with the privacy and large group area. It was very hot outside but it was only uncomfortable for an hour or so. To be expected, a large multi tiered room with glass for a wall.
Food was great, they ran out of plates for a while. The bathrooms were awful. Mens and womens ran out of paper towels and water on the floors. Staff was very busy, we ordered bottles and buckets to relieve the wait for drinks.
One Star for the patrons there. Several people felt it was appropriate to enter my paid for section to question how much I paid etc. which is not anyones business. A lot of entitled "I have never seen"...or "This is the worst its been here" customers everywhere. I can not imagine how the staff were being spoken too. Overall, Its Silks folks! If you want exclusivity please see floors 5 and 6! And if you want a Churchill Downs experience please get to KY next year. Plenty of tickets were available. Again... this is Silks.
Valet was great but for some person that owned a Black BMW (not me) that was announced constantly and I was personally approached in my section and asked if it was mine because "someone saw you getting out of it with a man". Really? Who? Such a disgusting accusation. I assume one of the many unhappy people in the area making accusations. Still want an answer to that.
Our group did get a nice shout out of recognition over the speaker during the park announcements. Nice touch!
Some really entitled folks did plug up the Valet line though, it took me 5 or so minutes to drop off around 1 PM and my (non-BMW American made) SUV was waiting for me when I left that evening.
For what I paid it fit my expectations, thus 5 stars. I was not under the impression I was attending The actual Kentucky Derby, rather enjoying a day at the races near my home to kick off the season. One of my party owns several claims horses and walked me through the process etc. so I will be making a purchase soon. Unfortunately I did not get one before this weekend but I have all season.
Great looking talent out there! Assmusen and his team are still making waves and it is great to see! Stables look great, jockeys strong and consistent. Debbie L in events and Matthew the Maître d delivered an excellent experience. See you all in the Winners...

Service: 0 stars
Food: 0 stars (comparable to frozen Walmart food)
Staff: 1 star for the waitress who was helpful compared to everyone else.
We attended a friends birthday event there and it was a large group taking up 3 tables. The waitress did the best she could and I do not fault her for the awful experience we had but the team and staff as a collective. It took 10 - 15 minutes to get our drinks after ordering them, an additional 20 - 30 minutes for the food to come out, which was not brought out together but individually. Many of the orders were wrong and missing sides or items that were supposed to come on or with the orders. Everyone ate there food anyways to avoid the long wait on having it corrected. After everyone finished their food I still had not received my order of food. I ordered another drink and never received it. I finally went to find our waitress as no other staff member would give me attention to try and rectify the situation. The waitress paid for my wives drink, and only charged us for her food and1 additional drink. This took 10-15 minutes as well.
We stayed until around midnight as the bar provided drinks at a rate you would expect. When we were leaving the waitress stated that she had charged me on the wrong ticket and needed to redo my payment. After another 10 minutes of trying to get everything straightened out I had had enough of the sloppy service and horrible experience. I paid the tab and still tipped the waitress because I know...
