I would give zero stars-Where do I begin… I have come into this store not that often maybe 4 times in the last year, but everytime I leave feeling like I should not go back. I will not be going back again after this time. My phone number when I checkout everytime is someone else’s name-My number used to be that persons number… whatever - None of the clerks for 3 of my purchases, three separate times knew how to change the name to my name in their system.- so i got no rewards i guess , the 3rd clerk told me to just tell the next clerk when i come again to override the system or something to change the number in their system to my name. I go in looking for some reasonably priced pots, and everything that looks nice is overpriced, so I go to the plain terracotta pots and notice that some of the pots are cracked on the outside, I look at 8 different pots on the shelf and inside on the bottom there’s a cracked line across the whole thing on all 8 pots … The garden clerk didn’t notice me when i walked in. Never been good customer service there. I was the one to say hi, and she did not ask if I needed help-nothing. I finally said -excuse me do you know that your pots are cracked? she said yes… I told her i understand things happen, etc. I was just looking for some pots. I said do you sell them at a discounted rate with cracks? She said no they don’t sell cracked pots, period… I laughed and said how do you make any profit… oh corporate doesn’t let them sell the damaged merchandise- it gets sent back to Ace… seems so wasteful !
I went to purchase the plastic pots I finally settled for, and I told the clerk to override the system with my name for rewards phone number , cause it says someone else’s name, but it’s not his number anymore it’s mine, the last clerk told me to say that when i came back. She was kind of confused, but pulled up my page, I was pretty annoyed at the cracked pots situation still, so it really didn’t help that she had me say my full name, address and birthday out loud in the store… I honestly didn’t feel comfortable saying my address, there was a guy behind me in line at the other register that was listening to our conversation and I felt very uncomfortable-i could see him looking at me. I asked can I give no address ? she didn’t say anything so i broke under pressure and said it. I started to tear up, and said I was having a hard day, she started to be nicer but I said yeah the lady in garden pissed me off cause you don’t sell damaged pots for a discounted price- but all the pots on the shelf are cracked. She tried to say something-maybe sorry? she tried to compliment my earrings but I was out the door after she put the receipt in the pots. I left in tears and will never look back. I don’t think they even felt sorry… just trying to get my money. Im just a woman trying to survive in this world! Make women feel comfortable in the hardware store! what the heck!
GO TO A-Z SUPPLY INSTEAD!!! I beg you! Support local!! they have always been so nice there but close...
Read moreIt's rare when BnC doesn't have the construction items we need or something that my husband can make work instead. Their prices are way more reasonable than Hills Flat. The notable issues are frequent out of stock/sold out in very specific plumbing parts, some departments don't have the most knowledgeable staff, and their selection on certain items can be limited (remodel boxes for instance). My husband prefers their lumber to Home Depots stock. And we have worse issues with sold out stock in HD Auburn. While I've had some issues with customer service at BnC, once even having to go to a manager about how a cashier was treating customers, I've also had some of the best customer service in GV at this store. More than once when I couldn't find a specific item and one employee wasn't sure, they asked another employee who helped me find exactly what I needed including a very specific and odd appliance plug for a generator. Ive also left the store with wrong parts on employee advice more than once as well so take that with a grain of salt. One time a lumber yard loader hung out with my stepson while I went inside to pay and I came back to him showing my step son a quick yo yo trick. I've never had issues with returns but never return without a receipt. Their new checkout lines suck, but I'm pretty patient in that regard. Parking is easy if you aren't there when literally every other person in GV is there at the same time. I haven't had the same experience of being ignored as other reviewers, but I'm in there so frequently that most employees recognize me now. And even when I have to wait for an employee, they are always willing to help me once they finish with the preceding customer. I always get a smile and a greeting from someone in every department I go to, even when I'm just going to the bathroom. And I can't tell you how many times I've said "Not unless you can find my husband" in response to "Can I help you find...
Read moreCovid and Curbside service is bringing out the worst in this local business. After returning a second time to retrieve an online curbside order that was in but that they couldn't find on my first trip earlier in the day, I drove around back as instructed and waited quite a while before being acknowledged, after which I was told to pull over to the side like I was supposed to know better. Fifteen to twenty minutes later, another employee (the only kind one in the bunch) finally checked on me, and went to find my order, returning a few minutes later, saying that the employee who had originally taken my order number still had three customers ahead of me, twenty minutes later!! Having finally received my small-sized order, I held it out to the employee at the check-out gate, who made an unsmiling comment about the size of my order, to wit I said I would prefer not to use curbside assistance, but was instructed to by my husband's oncologist, after which he waved me through with a clearly exasperated, "have a nice day." What a nightmare. I was made to feel like a nuisance. They should be embarrassed of their performance, and ashamed of suggesting that what they offer is anything close to service. It is...
