Taqueria El Gaban Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Grass Valley

We’ve eaten here before and not had a problem but today we placed an order at 11:40 and the time estimate was 15 minutes. We received a text saying pickup was at 12:13 and when we arrived to pick up the food we were told it would be ready at 12:35. At 1:00 our to go order was ready, an hour and twenty minutes after we placed it. People were talking in to order, eating, and leaving in the time that we waited. No apology, no explanation was offered.

When I called and explained the situation to the woman who answered the phone she said ‘and…’ like I was inconveniencing her. No apology, no explanation. I responded with ‘you don’t think that’s a problem’ to which she said the order wasn’t coming through on doordash. But someone was standing there who could have easily cancelled the order and placed it there or simply had the order cancelled and leave. I asked if I could speak to a manager and she told me he was busy and to call back later. I asked for her name since she was the one I had spoken to. She refused to tell me her name and hung up on me. When I called again and asked to speak to a manager and know her name she hung up on me again.

I know things happen and there is grace for things taking time but for there to be no communication while having someone stand there waiting 45 additional minutes for food that they’ve already paid for is crazy. She was so rude on the phone, so unprofessional, and so unapologetic. If the issue was with doordash then just say you’re sorry it’s going to be longer and offer the customer a chance to cancel their order.

It was shocking how rude they were about inconveniencing a customer who had no easy option to cancel their order and refusing to give your name to the person speaks to self awareness that you are...

OMG 😱 I can't believe the sizes of the orders!!! I had the carne asada quesadilla for lunch & it vastly exceeded my expectations & the meat level with cheese was beyond unbelievable!!! It was scrumptious & very abundant!!! I have never been here before so I ordered a couple of soft tacos with carne & the quesadilla with carne asada as well because I expected everything to be quite small, but to my surprise it was all HUGE!!! It worked out perfectly because I needed something for dinner, so I ate the quesadilla for lunch & took the tacos home for dinner!!! Not a bad price for two meals!!! It was all off the chain, very well seasoned carne asada!!! OMG 🤯😳 the onion & cilantro on the tacos was absolutely spot on!!! The cheesiness of the quesadilla with the seasoning of the meat was perfect & then the observation of the customer service was astounding, seriously....I wish I could eat here every day!!! They really go above & beyond by serious measure!!! I will eat here as often as possible!!! I love great Mexican food for my favorite comfort food & to add a little spice & goodness to my life, thank you for these wonderful meals!!! The atmosphere was great, they took great care of the customers & were also stocking & cleaning as well!!! Definitely highly...

I'm torn with this place, the carnitas burrito was absolutely amazing. Their carnitas reminded me of La Unica in Southern California with crispy bits but still juicy. The chili rellenos plate was pretty good. Their servings are big which is awesome. The fish taco would of been great if they used salsa instead of mayo or mayoish sauce that they used. The chili rellenos burrito was horrible turned into a wierd floury mush paste. And I dont know what four tortillas they are using but reheating them makes them a flour mush paste too. Maybe needs to be on a camal longer or it's the brand, but either way it's not pleasant, . I eat a lot of tortillas and have never had them turn back to flour mush like that so badly. I do understand you loose alot when you reheat food but this is in the extreme. To end on a positive note, I will be back for those carnitas. Hope they work out the glitches in those tortillas and sauce on...
