This was the worst music venue I've ever been to. I saw Zakk Sabbath there on January 12th with my friend. Doors were at 7:00 pm, but they didn't start letting people in until 7:15ish. It was raining really hard when we arrived before 7:00pm, so my friend and I stood under a tent for a short while next to the venue to wait for the rain to stop before getting in line. I assume the tent that we stood under was for whoever was suppose to be directing those with parking passes down the street to parking, but no one was there. My friend and another person that was waiting were doing that job for the venue. It took them almost 2 hours to get everyone in and we missed the opening band that I was really excited to see. They significantly oversold the show to the point that it was a fire hazard. The max capacity is listed at 500 people online (via Gigseekr) and an employee I talked to said they logged 550 people (not including staff I assume). We were packed like sardines and my friend and I had to stand outside in the smoking section in front of the garage doors. Thankfully it only briefly drizzled rain during the show and stopped. The one time I went to the restroom I had to squeeze by people, as in body on body with no spacing, to get to the women's restroom on the right side of the venue. We were sent a text message saying to use the online "smart tab" and I had so many issues with it, and would not recommend using it. The ONLY upside to this show was that Zakk got on the bar and we were in the perfect spot to see him for the encore. Whoever was/is managing this venue was either having an off night or has no clue what they were doing. The only reason I'm reviewing this is so anyone going to this venue knows...
Read moreFrom one money-grubbing management(BT) onto the next. If you look at my profile, you know I don't care to post bad reviews, but this one struck a cord. There are too many hoops to jump through just to see a show here. When ordering a ticket same-day, there's a $5 upcharge. Once you pay for a ticket, they use a third party service that FORCES you to download their app to access the ticket/QR code instead of emailing it to you like most others. Once you get to the venue, there was a $10 parking fee for a parking lot over a block away! What's the point then? When ordering a drink at the bar, you have to scan another QR code to set up and put your CC info into another third-party website, then show the bartender you're done to receive your drink. And the drink?? Small. So small. I paid $9 for a single shot of TITOS. The topper on the cake is there are "no re-entry" signs all throughout the place even though they give you a wristband to wear upon entering. What's the point of a wrist band, stamps, Xs, etc, if you can't re-enter?? Places like Hangar 1819, Blind Tiger, and ultimately GSO in general are why there are near NO decent metal shows in this city -- which is a major NC city. It's sad! There's too many hoops to jump through and regulations, just to get a drink and watch a show or listen to music. I would say go to ETC as that has been the LAST real venue in this town, but the city has seemingly ruined that. I'll be seeing yall at School kids Records...
Read moreGreat venue and great rebrand, been coming here for 7+ years. Would give 5 stars but parking NEEDS to be fixed. Went to a sold out show on the March 4th 2023 and my car was towed for parking far back on Oakland St along with 9 other cars apparently. Parking 15-20ft closer on the same street would have been safe but there were no closer spots. I have parked on this street many times when the regular parking was full with no problem, but with the amount of people attending that night and not getting there extremely early, I had to park farther back than normal. I understand that the designated parking lot is first come first serve but it is a NOT built for the amount of people that showed up. With this many people attending, parking farther back was inevitable. I feel like parking needs to either expand or Hangar needs to get in contact with some of these companies on Oakland St. on nights when there are sold out shows to explain that their customers will be filling up that back street. Especially when this show was sold out 2 months before the actual date. Or possibly get in contact with some other businesses to let customers park in their parking lot, even for a fee. Paying for parking sounds alot better than dealing with and paying for getting your car back that was towed.
May 28th 2023 edit: they added the option for paid parking. Thank...
