Updated, December 2024 - Growers Outlet is one of those places that seems much bigger inside than it looks from the street. In addition to the expected produce selection, they have house branded jarred products and things like a surprisingly large variety of bagged egg noodles, or flavored corn nuts. Unlike supermarket checkouts designed to push impulse purchases, Growers Outlet has surprises in every corner. They don't sell meat, but we usually end up with multiple items that were not on our shopping list. There are a couple of times a year, when we want strawberries for canning, or a tree for Christmasing, when no place else will do. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are many other Portlanders that have their own times of year when they simply have to come here. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It's not very near where I live, but Grower's Outlet is well worth the drive when various fruits are in season, when we want a Christmas tree, or just when we want to treat ourselves. Great quality produce.

just driving by i knew i wanted to check this cozy looking market out. nostalgia for many markets i’ve loved over the years. my first trip was great. the doors are always open, so during Covid that keeps the air flowing, which is nice, but keep it in mind on cold days. they have a vast selection of bulk dry goods, staple pantry items, and things i love to snack on. wonderful selection of fig bars, roasted nuts, and dry fruit. they carry lots of local honey, and i was thrilled to find my favorite flavor: meadow foam. the staff was really friendly and helpful, continually restocking. our family has been looking for someone stocking diamond crystal kosher salt, so i was glad to find it here. the produce was very fresh. i’m so excited to make this a new permanent part of my grocery rounds.

This is what I call a fresh market. As soon as you walk in, depending on which entrance you come in. All the fruits and vegetables have real colors and look very fresh. The only place I know that has watermelons with seeds, which isn't easy to find, so that's a plus to start. Customer service is great, and everyone has a smile and determination to help the customer out. We'll staffed. Prices are fair for fresh items. They have a great variety of spices and sauces that made me rethink some recipes. It's definitely a place I will frequent. Go early because it can get a bit busy at times.

My girls and I got our tree from them, the service was dull, flat, unwelcoming. We felt like we were bothering the man for the entire 7 minutes he took to cut the trunk and attach strings and then to put it on top the car and ring us up for an overpriced Christmas tree.

His cold attitude really ruined the whole Christmas tree shopping experience , wish I could rewind the day and just leave and go else where for our tree. I shopped this store a lot in the past, but haven’t really been going back because the prices aren’t beatable from my local Fred Meyer, I was really trying to support the ma and pa corner store, but I will never go back!

I said nothing to my kids, but the minute we walked thru the doors to leave, my 13 year old said “Wow, Mom, he was so unfriendly” and my 10 year old responded “I felt like we must have been interrupting his lunch break!” It was 9 am ... but they are right, I will never return!

When I got home and told my husband, who usually gets our tree with the kids and I Stay home with anticipation to see what they come home with, anyway, my husband just got out of the hospital and so we traded roles, I told him what a bummer the service was and he told me he got our tree there two years ago and it was the same service, Cold, unfriendly, and uncomfortable (oh, I remember the story now, just didn’t know it was that place!) he swore he’d never go back too! Which also explains why when I asked him to run there and pick up some items , he didn’t actually go THERE

Just a side note, my husband is a very friendly person, who rarely ever complains about anything in life. With that said even tho it’s the only store in walking distance, we will never shop there again!

Sorry to be such an inconvenience and spend our hard working money there! Thanks for ruining the tree experience for the family, if you can’t be friendly, don’t be in the Christmas business, it’s supposed to be magical, and no one should walk away feeling unwanted like we did.

Oh yeah and he complained when I asked him to lay the tarp we brought on the hood, I am hardly five foot and can’t really reach that, but it seemed like asking him was asking him way too much , very awkward , very disappointing, wish I had just said never mind and left, but I am a...

Very nice farmstaad/market. Our hour drive each way every 1-2 weeks is well worth it. They have a good variety of clean, well-stocked and organized fruit, vegetables, bread, nuts--plus an adjacent nursery. The prices are a bit higher than the big box grocers but you are getting quality goods--many of which are grown locally. You can easily differentiate the local from out-of-area produce by the color of the handwritten signs. Green signage means local while white is from out of area. [This is particularly important to us not only for better nutrition and to support local farmers but also because we are trying to avoid fruit and vegetables from the Monterrey/Salinas area (known as the "salad bowl" because that is where 70% of US produce grows) due to the lithium battery storage facility fires. It is mind bogglng to think that such a facility was located in this rich ecological and agricultural region but it was and the local residents have been adversely impacted--and the fallout has fallen on our important farmlands. News coverage has been surprisingly close to nil but you can find info if you look up.]

Back to the strengths of the Growers Outlet; two of our favorite items are cabbage and radishes. The cabbages are darker green, tender and the cores are noticeably smaller than the cabbages from regular grocery. You can immediately taste the difference when eating raw cabbage...tender and sweet. The radishes are large, also tender, tasty--and not the least bit hot.

About 5 weeks ago, we bought a 4" zucchini plant. It was planted the next day after bringing home. The plant was extremely healthy and not the least bit stressed and grew out absolutely beautifully.

Today we ALREADY picked our first two gorgeous zucchini from that little plant. The biggest one was a head-turning 9" long by about 4" wide. We look forward to cooking it this weekend w/whatever haul we bring back from Growers Outlet tomorrow.

Last, but not least, the staff at Growers Outlet are really great. They are present, attentive and responsive. You can tell that they understand how important their work is...and enjoy caring for customers.

Growers Outlet is like a breath...

The Growers Outlet is an excellent place to purchase all of your in season fruits and vegetables. 🍇🥕They have a very wide variety so wide I even found (a flashback from my childhood) a favorite that grew wild from back home in California on their shelves, , , , , kumquats 👈😋. I hadn't seen those in so long I nearly forgot of their existence LOL 👈😮. Besides fruits and vegetables they also have bags of different size quantities of things like pastas and beans and split peas that I also love to purchase from them. Sometimes I just go in there for a gallon of milk because they also carry that and it is one item that I have always found there at a reasonable price. They also have a bit of bulk type of candy as well at reasonable price add a fun variety. I used to buy the black licorice mix once I found that they had it there that I used to purchase from WinCo when I used to live across the street from there. Then one day I was at the growers outlet and I discovered oh my goodness the black licorice mix here 👈😉👍 Hooray 🎉. Anyways it's a beautiful place w/ friendly staff. They accept cash, debit and food stamps as well. They are definitely a neighborhood staple. And not every neighborhood has a vegetable market right there but this one does. If you've never yet stopped by and shopped at this market, you should come by and check them out sometime. Oh & this would be the perfect time of year to come by too it's almost October. Come by & go into their back (open air) area & bring along the little ones (or your own fun 🥸🤠 adventure spirit) & find yourself that perfect 🎃 pumpkin 🎃 as well as explore the other fabulous festivities 🌾🌽🌾 that the Growers Outlet has in store during the 👻 Halloween 👻 season for their...
