I am very disappointed in this place and highly advise people of color to read this carefully. Normally I order from them and spend a lot of money for food via Grub Hub or Doordash. On 3/3/2023 I decided to take my family of 6 to dine in. From the time we arrived it seems as though we weren't even there. The two ladies that were working in the front were very rude and disrespectful it took 10 minutes before my family and I were seated they were taking phone orders back to back instead of seating me and my family and getting back to their business. Finally we are seated and the host asked what we wanted to drink and since this was our first time dinning there and we don't drink soda we couldn't figure out what drinks the kids. The hostess began to become impatient and tells us "Figure it out " and walks away. Then our waitress comes to our table asking if we were ready to order we asked for a little more time she takes a deep heavy breath and walked away. 5 minutes later out waiter comes back with 6 waters slamming each one them on the table causing the water to wet my 11 year old daughter on her face and clothing. I wanted to leave then but I really enjoyed their food and my children were hungry so we excused it. We finally were ready to order for the family but I had some questions about certain items because there were things listed on the family bundle deal my family does not eat so I asked for substitute instead. The response from our waitress was very very rude she made us feel rushed and acted as though the questions we asked was annoying her,she cut me advised there was $6.00 fee for each substitute and yelled " Now what do you want to order"!? At this point I decided to say nevermind and go somewhere else. As soon as I said "nevermind" she immediately walked away and went to the back. There were other people dinning there that were not of color and did not get the same energy we were given. They were immediately seated and drinks were brought to them without getting them wet.Sad part is before my first time dine in attempt I ordered from them often and I am really not ordering anything else from them because there was a cook who used the bathroom for a while and did not wash their hands be careful that's how hepatitis is spread. Very disappointed and hate that I have to leave this type of review. I felt my family and I were strongly discriminated against and I am upset I even did any type of business with this restaurant

I am going to respectfully decline the offer of returning back to your place of business. After reviewing other reviews,4 months ago someone had a bloody bandage in their food, some people got sick,and a year ago other customers whom are of color like myself were treated poorly as well. To me it doesn't seem like the problem will get fixed and the behaviors of those 2 women has happened due to uncorrected habbit. Read moreMy girlfriend and i want to thank Chinese Gardens Restaurant for being so horrible that it made us leave. We waited for our poor excuse of a waitress. (Was talking on her personal cell as she seated us and as we left the place immaturaly threw the menus on the table that we sat at. About 5 min or so before we decided to leave we had looked around at our empty surrounding tables to realize they had dirty plates and silverware, some with food that looked to had been sitting there for a while (mind you no one has left our area seeing as it was only my girlfriend and i and a small group that was there before we got there). I got up and looked down the hall to the back of the place and noticed a back seating area that was about 60% full from what i could see and people were being served and waited on whereas we hadnt seen one for about 20 minutes. Yes we waited for 30 mintues total from walk in to leaving.
At this point my girlfriend and i leave with disgust and the massive hunger for chinese food So we try this place not much further away from home. Its called The Rainbow Dragon, off of Stark st here in Portland. We walked in and were immediately impressed, we were meeted and seated with in 45 seconds, it was one man from what we saw up front and, god forbid i remember is name as this happened over a week ago, a man or two in the kitchen. When he gave us our menu and left to tend to other customers he came back with water and got our drink order, less than 4 min easily. We order our food about 3 minutes after that and looking at the menu it was significatly cheaper than Chineae Gardens. 2-4 dollars less on every menu item and they even had a wider selection. We got an appetizer and two full meals. I kid you not, about 5-6 minutes later our appetizer shows up, perfectly done. 4-5 minutes after that he notices we are finishing up on our appetizer and leaves. He comes back about a minute or so later with our meals and we ate as much as we could. The food we had left over was pretty large amount. So we took it to go, we paid and the grand total for everything was 33 dollars plus 8 dollars tip for amazing service and food. Where as we would have spent around 45-50 at Chinese Gardens for about half the amount of food.

Read moreAs a delivery driver I'm used to excessive wait times here (their policy is to not start cooking to go orders until the person is there to pick up, so it's impossible to order ahead for a quick pick up and almost always a money losing effort for delivery drivers,) but tonight was ridiculous. Sure it's Christmas, sure they're super busy, but I stood in there for almost half an hour before I could even get to the counter just to be told they weren't filling anymore delivery app orders tonight because of product shortages. This order was in their system for over an hour at that point, someone sitting at home with their credit card already charged, waiting hours to find out the restaurant that had gladly accepted the order had no intention of filling it or notifying them their Christmas dinner plans were ruined. The staff could have announced to the crowd with multiple drivers waiting in vain that there were no more app orders, could have posted a sign, could have bothered to turn off their order tablet if they weren't going to fill those orders. Also, more to the counter staff here, don't make fun of the door dash drivers who have poor English until you learn some. The clerk tonight was extremely rude to two other drivers before me, both of whom were asking perfectly comprehensible questions that SHE clearly couldn't understand. She decided to just literally yell at them "no food for you". She managed "we out" to my white self so could have been at least that polite to them as well.
