I do not recommend this place for any family get together. Went for a birthday dinner, no prices on the menus, so I asked for the price on a meal and once I got the bill, was way more than told by the waitress. The waitress never gave me the actual price until I checked my receipt and had to ask why it was different. The waitress told me she didn’t know the prices and just estimated. I ordered a shrimp cocktail, and ceviche and they charge you for the sides and don’t ask you if you want them. My whole party was unsatisfied with their final receipts as well, because they were also over charged with charging them for the sides when they never were asked if they wanted them. When I asked for a manager, she apparently was gone and no one had the ability to adjust my receipt because their excuse was they had to call the manager and the waitress didn’t want to get in trouble. Also, I ordered a mango margarita and they charged me $19 for don julio tequila in it. My drink was 27 dollars. More than my little shrimp cocktail. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON GREEDY OWNERS. THEY PURPOSELY HIDE THE PRICES SO THEY CAN CHARGE YOU WHATEVER THEY WANT AND THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. WE WILL BE BACK TOMORROW TO TALK TO THE MANAGER BECAUSE THAT WAS THE ONLY SOLUTION THEY...
Read moreMexican seafood restaurants are new to me, but there are a couple of decent ones in east Portland. The menus are similar in content and price. All of these places seem a little expensive for what you get.
I've only had the sarandeados and octopus ceviche here so far. The seafood is high quality but the cucumbers and tomatoes are standard flavorless Sysco truck fare. The octopus was tender and tasty. Sarandeados are buttery, spiced grilled shrimp. Suck the heads dry and don't be shy about eating as much of the crispy shells as you feel comfortable with.
There was a huge speaker blasting music at a comically loud volume considering how tiny this place is. I'm trying not to be a whiny gringo gentrifier but it made it hard to enjoy my company. The server was really nice and helpful. I'm not sure if I would come back here, but I wish I wanted to because I'd like to try more of this...
Read moreMy partner and I have this thing where we try out a new spot in search of the best molcajate dish. We came to Don Kamaron on a Saturday night close to 8pm and there was a 25 min wait. Seeing how packed the place was, the line of people waiting to be seated only enticed us more! When seated, we were greeted with the best customer service i've received in a long time! Our waitress thanked us for our patience, and was personable with us through out our entire time there. We of course got the molcajate. Chicken, Steak, Chorizo, and The best shrimp! The cactus and cheese were perfectly cooked. This molcajate has made its way to #1 on our list and we have tried many molcajates. The hot cheeto sushi was good too but wouldn't necessarily re order. We got shot of whiskey that were poured at our table and filled to the tippy top! We will definitely be back to try the rest...
