Update After submitting my review I was personally contacted by the general manager. He was extremely helpful, understanding and committed to ensure something like this wouldn’t happen again in the future. Safety and the children’s enjoyment is a big concern of his and he did a great job not taking this lightly. After speaking with him and seeing that he truly cared and wanted to fix things, we will try it out again the next time we’re in the area!
We decided to attend the track today in Gulf Shores, Al. It was a fun time until my youngest child decided he wanted to ride the Baja buggies.
From the very beginning I should have known it was a bad idea. The person that was supposed to be working the ride wasn’t at the gate to scan the cards & load the kids into the ride.
We waited in line for a minute and she finally decided to walk over & start loading the kids onto the ride. She had what seemed to be a bad attitude right off the bat. Everything was going fine until another child started crying. She stopped the ride to let the other child get off but she failed to tell the rest of the kids to stay in their seats.
My child thought the ride was done so he started to get out from under his seat belt. She wasn’t paying any attention and went back to her “post” & turned the ride back on with my child STANDING in his seat. She was turned the other way talking & laughing with another young employee there.
I had to SCREAM to get her attention to let her know he was not in his seatbelt & was standing up while the ride was going. Her reply was “the seatbelts not unbuckled. He has a seatbelt on.” She immediately turned around facing the opposite direction of the ride with the small children on it to continue on with her conversation.
About the time she turned around my child was screaming, crying & climbing over the side of the ride to get out. She didn’t even bother to turn the ride off when she turned back around to see what the commotion was. About that time he had fell out the ride & took off running back to the gate so I could pick him up.
The entire time this was going on she acted like she couldn’t care less about it. She was rolling her eyes, making sly & rude comments, paying 0 attention to the small children on the ride while it was going & overall failing to make sure the kids were properly buckled in. She FAILED at her job to ensure all of the children were safe.
She acted like she was mad at ME & “inconvenienced” because I had to yell at her to get her attention due to her failing to do her job & my child’s safety was at risk due to her negligence. Overall, we had fun up until we had that happen.
Even though the go carts were a good time, we won’t be back. The safety features definitely need upgraded. At no time should any child be able to freely crawl out from under their seatbelt, stand up & FALL OUT of a ride. An employee should never make your paying guests feel how she made us feel today. It’s insane having to watch your child be put at risk on what should be a safe ride due to an employees negligence & the employee acting “annoyed” by you.
I fully plan on...
Read moreThe Track is a fun way to have family time. The website does a great job listing their attractions and the cost per ride, which is appreciated when planning to visit with the kids. You know what they can do before you arrive!
They get super busy in summer after sunset, so earlier in the day is my recommended for when to visit. Although putt putt isn’t very shady so if that’s your jam I’d go after dark.
The arcade is basically just the ticket winning machines, like the ones where you use a claw to get the ticket rings, the style that you push coins off the collect cards for points…etc. so if you are wanting GAMES, you will be disappointed. Also, the cost to play games is higher than most arcades we visit. I’d skip it and just do the outdoor activities.
There is no food. They have vending machines with drinks and junk food, but that’s it. Do not come hungry!
They DO have go kart for everyone! While the site lists this, here’s a summary for reference.
• Kiddie Karts – Perfect for little ones! Drivers must be between 3′6″ and 4′0″ tall. Kids drive their own karts here. • Rookie Track – For slightly bigger kids ready to go solo. Must be at least 4′0″ tall to drive. • Family Track – Great for riding together! • Drive solo if you’re 4′6″ or taller. • Ride as a passenger if you’re between 3′0″ and 4′5″ (free ride in a double kart with a licensed driver age 16+). • Wild Woody (multi-level) – One of the most fun! • Drive solo if you’re 4′8″ or taller. • Ride as a passenger if you’re between 3′0″ and 4′7″ (free with licensed driver age 16+). • Super Track – More thrills for bigger kids and adults. • Must be at least 4′8″ tall to drive. • Slick Track – Tight turns and fast action! • Must be at least 5′0″ tall to drive. Read moreI love The Track. There is something for everyone here; babies, kids, teens and adults alike.
There is adequate parking and the area is lively and clean. Make sure to have a chunk of change in hand when coming here. They use a point system for all attractions. One point is one dollar. You can order point packages on their website to save a few dollars if you're taking the whole family which helps.
There are four go kart tracks to choose from. Bumper boats, mini golf, a train for the little ones, a huge arcade, the Sky Coaster, and much more.
They take safety very seriously. The workers didn't seem too jolly, but I wouldn't be in that heat either!
I rode the Sky Coaster (22 dollars a person, mind you) with my little sister and my nephew. The employees took us step by step through securing ourselves in the harnesses. You are then lifted 110 feet in the air and dropped at the person furthest to the right's will and the yank of a cord. Then you go flying through the sky as everyone down below watches you. It was definitely worth it.
I would have spent the whole day here, let me tell you. I made awesome memories with my family here and I can't wait...
