I picked this hotel, one, because I've stayed in Microtel Inn's several times and had great experiences. Two, the location was absolutely perfect for all kids' activities, and both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. What I found out once we stayed here was another topic. Management needs to do a better job at going around checking to make sure all staff is WORKING and doing their job at the hotel. My kids and I arrived on a Friday, we got checked in fine, and was told that we would be staying in building 2. We drove around to our building, walked in, and I thought it was break time in the lobby. All the male workers were either on their phones, sitting down, or watching us come in with our stuff. No friendly "hello, can we help you?" Or anything.😕...The lobby floors looked like they had not been swept or mop, and the carpet in the hallway and in our rooms had not been vacuumed either. As I did a room check, my son noticed the metal piece sticking out of the wall socket. I have pictures below. Didn't know what that was about, but we knew it would be dangerous to plug anything in. I figured the room had been thoroughly checked or cleaned because housekeeping should have seen that. Also, the lock on our door was almost off the hinges, so we couldn't properly lock it. The bathroom door wouldn't lock at all, and there was dirt and grime all along the floor or the bathroom around the baseboard. I think they just mopped what you would immediately see and hope you didn't notice the rest. I clean houses part-time, so I always notice EVERYTHING! I wish I had taken a pic of the showerhrad bc it looked like it hadn't been changed since the place was built. 🤢.....then our bath rags and towels, we noticed, had past guest hair all over them. I ended up having to buy us towels and rags to use for the rest of our trip, I didn't want to take any more chances. Saturday, no one came in to empty our trash at all, so we had 2 days of trash in our room when we left on Monday morning. Believe it not, I didn't see anyone that I could let know they had missed our room for trash pic up. Smh. Overall, the beds were clean and comfortable. I would advise never pic a first floor, only bc other ppls kids will be up jumping around waking you up. I hate that our hotel was not great, but we LOVED all Gulf Shores, AL had to offer!

This is one nasty hotel to stay at. My whole family stayed there, a party of 15 people. The check in was great. The rooms had a horrible meadow smell in them. The room I stayed in had blood stains on the bottom sheet and fresh blood stains on the tip sheet. I removed all bedding from the bed and put them in the hallway next to the room door. I told the front desk clerk about blood stain sheets and I also showed her. She was shook by what she say. The front desk clerk told me she will get us some CLEAN beddings but she will not be able to make the bed for us. I was too thru with this place. She tells me she will write up a statement for the manager to see in the morning, so we could get a refund. ng to us. Well morning came and no one said anything to us. At check out we told the clerk about what had happened and she didn't know what we was talking about. Their was no note left of what was on the sheets. Well I took pictures because I knew when it came down to it getting a refund it was going to be a problem. Nobody knows nothing! Here are the photos of the bedding that was on our bed in this nasty hotel. If you choose to stay here make sure you check the bedding,. Bring cleaning supplies to clean the toilet and bathroom. Bring some lysol, febreeze and air freshener to spray in room and on bed. Oh and we never got our promised phone call or refund we was promise. DON'T STAY HER!

I stayed here a week ago because it was on the cheaper side, and i liked the location. When we arrived, our room was pretty nasty. it seemed as if they had just put new bedding in there. there were splashes of unknown colored liquids on the walls, stickiness everywhere, the carpet had not been vacuumed, there were mildew on the trim, and the bathtub had globs of dried glue. It also didn’t smell clean. we stayed in that room the first night, but the next morning we went to the front desk to address it. the lady there was very nice and she said she was embarrassed. she was very apologetic, and explained that where we were (the second floor of the second building), the cleaners couldn’t communicate with them because of a language barrier, and they’ve had complaints before. she offered us a new room, and we took it. our new room was WAY better. clean everywhere, smelled clean. i have no legitimate complaints about the second room we received. although, other workers and cleaners who waited and watched while we moved rooms, seemed annoyed. the breakfast served downstairs was also just snack food besides pancakes you can make yourself. my final “complaint” would be the pool. besides it being pretty small for the size of the hotel (it can fit about one family at a time), it did not feel or look clean. the water had a film over the top at all times, and seemed stagnant. there was also algae growing on the steps. it was murky and you could not see your feet at the bottom of the pool. there were also no pool times posted on the sign (they left it blank), so we had to ask, and the worker we asked was rude. there would be people swimming late at night, so one night we swam, and at 10:10 PM, a worker came down and told us it closes at 10, and she waited and stared impatiently while we got dressed. we told her thank you, and she did not even respond. I give this hotel an overall 3, because our second room was fine, there were no safety issues we ran into, and it was just an “okay” place to stay. i thank the front desk worker who actually had hospitality! just to add, i own an airbnb, and would never leave a false or...

By far the absolute worst “hotel” that our family has stayed in. There is mold everywhere!!! The entire second floor smells of mildew once you step out of the elevator. Our rooms sheets were not changed after previous guests (grease stains & chocolate). How do I know you ask? When I moved up the bed to check the sheets, there were broken pieces of Kit Kat smudged on one of the back walls and a bunch of crumbs all over the platform part of the bed. If someone actually changed the sheets, they would have definitely noticed that. We called downstairs for someone to change the sheets and clean up. Well he came and we pointed out what the issues were. He said he would come back to clean it up…….Four hours later after returning from the beach, no one ever showed up and the $20 tip we left was still untouched on the bed. Went downstairs to speak to someone and they said that night shift employees weren’t allowed to change the sheets. We then asked for clean sheets and changed them ourselves.SideNote: When I was downstairs, there was a gentleman being moved from his room downstairs bcuz he was complaining of black mold on the ceiling. The lady in the front said to him “ The manager agreed to move you to a different room, but u have to hurry bcuz the person that is going to check into this room is arriving soon and the room has to be cleaned”. The guy advised her that it was NOT a good idea to move someone else in there because of the black mold and that it was dangerous to have someone in there. It didn’t seem to phase her. Second day we asked cleaning staff to once again please clean the chocolate that was smudged behind the pillows of the bed. Said he would do it, we left for half an hour so that he could clean in peace, we came back and the freaking chocolate is STILL HERE! DEFINITELY NOT worth the $700 that we paid for to stay here for 3 days!! My advice is to spend just a little bit more to stay literally anywhere else. I gave this place a chance despite being hesitant when reading the reviews and I regret it. This “hotel” should be classified a MOTEL. (Pros) The staff...
