Would have left a negative -5 if I could have. Cashier and manager could not have been more and treated me like I was a complete Moron. I simply asked if there was an alternative way to enter the coupons for the discounts offered in the store that advertised added discounts but you needed to register an account and scan for the coupon. Easy enough right? Apparently not I kept getting a message that the system was down please try again later. No problem I used my camera to take a picture of each item that offered additional discounts to keep track of what I could expect when their system would except my information. After several attempts to try and register and also at the end of my shopping I had a full cart of groceries and asked the cashier for some help. She directed my to the app and I showed her I had already had done that and tried to show her the automated response about the system being down she kept telling me to get closer to the door to see if it worked assuming I was not getting an internet connection and when I tried to explain that my connection wasn't an issue she yelled out for a manager. Quote CAN YOU COME OVER AND SHOW THIS GUY HOW TO SIGN UP FOR HIS COUPONS! when the manager approached she immediately went on the defensive. When I said the system was down and I would just like to get the discounts on the products that had coupons in the store. She snarkily replied, how am I supposed to remember all the coupons? In the store. And as I was gonna tell her that I took pictures of all of them in the event that the system was down, maybe we could still manually put them in or scan for them. That's when the cashier got back into the conversation and again told me to go to the door to try to get the internet connection, which was never the problem to try to sign back up four the app. They never tried to listen to anything I had to say. I couldn't have been nicer cause I knew what I was dealing with. So at the time I took her opinion, I simply walked to the door and kept going and left Mike grocery cart sitting in the aisle at their cash register, and it went to my truck and left. Very disappointing, especially when there was nobody in the store, all they had to do was listen and realize I had pictures of each item that had a coupon. And it wasn't a problem I was having with the internet. The problem clearly stated their system was down. Way to go krogers on m36 i'm sure you're not the first customer. You chased out of there for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI like shopping here mostly. There are the occasional issues, like with any grocery store. The past couple visits, however, the older check out staff has just been rude. I try really hard to be pleasant, kind and acknowledge how crummy working a busy cashier shift can sometimes be. But they are really showing their hatred for their work day/role on the line.
-Rushing the conveyor so bread/produce gets smashed, no baggers and not assisting with bagging but letting everything smash on top of itself -then staring at me and my husband frantically bagging while continuing to scan and shove more items -screaming our total at us a 2nd and 3rd time when we didn't get to the payment pad with our card within 10 seconds of the total first being read (because we were frantically bagging). -Asking us questions then ignoring our answers to talk to coworkers. ("How are you?" Then proceeds to ignore our response and ask a coworker if she can go on lunch yet. "Want your receipt?" We answer no, she continues to talk to her coworker about lunch then literally screams after us when we are at the exit about our receipt) -another time at self checkout and I waited for assistance while 3 staff members stood in a circle gossiping and staring at me. When I interrupted them they said "oh our one coworker who has the badge needed to help you saw her friend in the parking lot, she'll be back". So I waited for her to be done talking to her friend in order to leave while they all continued catching up in front of me.
I do like it here. But it's been a customer service nightmare the last few times upon exit, with grumpy and oblivious staff. I feel bad I'm getting in their way, because they seem irritated upon sight of me at the end of their check out line (even though I'm smiling, patient and ready to drop over $300 each...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe regular cashiers, baggers, produce, bakery and deli employees are really kind and helpful. I generally like the folks who work here. But since I moved here a year ago, I have consistently encountered poor product quality on some items. For example, half-and-half that's gone lumpy and is turning into cheese; rancid nuts; and last week, I bought some Boar's Head provolone that was super-stinky when I got it home and opened it (maybe that's on me, considering the brand, but I have never in my life had any funky provolone. It's such a mild cheese that it almost never smells of anything. That's why I buy it.) I've never had to save my grocery receipts before, and used to just take a bad product as the rare one-off, but this place has stiffed me enough times on bad product that I have made a couple complaints at the service desk. The same woman who seems to always be there keeps blaming the vendors. I don't buy it. I can run down to Busch's in Pinckney the same afternoon and buy the same product and it's fine. I think the Chilson Commons Kroger might have some problems with refrigeration (and hey, if you're going to put someone on the service desk, put someone there who takes customer complaints seriously, and who doesn't respond with defensiveness).
I've never shopped at any major grocery store where I've had to anticipate bad product. Now whenever I come into this Kroger, I find myself wondering if all my purchases will be edible. I only live two or three miles from the store, but between product problems and anti-trust concerns (yep, I do follow the news re the Albertsons buyout), I'm thinking about switching to Busch's. It's a Michigan-based chain and it's only nine minutes further...
