Small parking lot marking the eastern end of the Lakelands trail. Lot accommodates maybe 15 vehicles. A couple of port-o-potties serve as bathrooms. No water here, though there may be something available at one of the nearby stores. (Hamburg Pub is a block away but that wasn't an option at 10 am). Easy to access from M-36.

The Lakeland Trail is 26 miles long from Hamburg to Stockbridge. The first 10 miles, to just past Pinckney, is paved and great for walking, running, rollerblading, and cycling. Beyond Pinckney, the trail changes to crushed/packed limestone for 4 miles to the Unadilla county line. Still bikeable but thin road tires may have some issues. Certainly not for rollerblades here. The trail is open to horses at this point and all the way to the west end. Beyond the Unadilla county line, the trail changes to more sandy ground and a mountain or trail bike is necessary.

Trail was in decent shape, some cracking pavement, but overall a good outing. Scenic trail through the...

🚲 Mike Levine Lakelands Trail Review

I went for an amazing bike ride on the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail on August 8th, 2025, starting early in the morning. I parked at the Village Trailhead since the far east end was under construction for a new roundabout. Once I was set up and ready to go, I headed west and rode almost all the way to Pinckney.

The trail is absolutely beautiful — smooth, peaceful, and full of variety. One of the best parts is how it weaves between so many lakes, giving you gorgeous views on either side as you ride. The scenery was incredible that morning, with blue skies and scattered clouds creating a perfect backdrop for the ride.

I can’t wait to come back and explore further west on my next trip. Whether you’re a casual rider or looking to put in some miles, this trail offers a perfect mix of nature, calm, and beauty. Highly...

A very nice cycling trail. Hubs and I rode west 6 miles and then turned around when the sky looked threatening. Fortunately we made it to a tunnel when the rain arrived! Anyway, the parking lot is a bit small and we got the last space. There’s a portapotty there, and a few benches. Anyone interested in inline skating the trail, I’d rate it a 7 of 10. The path is great for bikes, but for skates there are splits in the asphalt at various places. If you appreciate this post, please click “Helpful.”
