Harrisburg Farm Complex — Attraction in Harrisburg

I go to the venue a couple times a year. So far I was at the auto show and the sportsman show. The auto show is good to attend if looking for a new vehicle. Can do everything except test drive them. The food and drinks are expensive though.

The sportsman show...let's just say it was better years past. Of course there's some new methods out there. But anymore it's nothing but a sales pitch. $15 to get in with advance tickets, $10 to park. Went on a Wednesday and was packed already and horrible traffic at 10am when they open. The outfitters would be much better if they were organized by location instead of all random. You have a hog hunt in PA next to a safari hunt in Africa next to a goose hunt in Maryland. Very unorganized when it comes to looking at specific locations. The raffles that go on are decent. I ended up winning a firearm with one of them. It's nice they call winners as soon as tickets sell out. Food and drink is expensive. $7 milkshakes. $4 slice of pizza. $3 can of soda. But a must have is the Amish stuffed pretzel stand. I've been coming here every years since the Fire Expo started using the farm center.(i remember the expo being at Durch Wonderland)The building itself is nice and walkable. The Fire Expo seems to die a slow death each of the past years its been here. I've been an ACTIVE volunteer firefighter for 52 years. I enjoy the new apparatus static displays. Its getting smaller each year. Less vendors as well each year. The food prices have gotten out of control!Sorry to day, several people I've spoken to seem to express the same sentiment. Inside was awesome. The main parking lot was supposed to be full,which it wasn't. So we had to park accross from the complex. Quite a walk when you have a bad back and legs. When we got to the main lot ,there had to have been at least 150 to 200 open spots. It was opened not 5 minutes after we had parked across from the complex. This action kinda turned me away from going there. Who am I tho. Just one beat up old man. Hard to walk distance. Trying to have a bit of fun with my wife,dauhgter,daughter, 6 mo old grandson.
