Hanalei Pier was an amazing visit! Though the parking is very congested, it's free on a first come first serve basis. Hey there early so you're not hunting to park for 30 mins. Once parked, the area is spacious grassy areas, with plenty of shade trees, open area and bathrooms/changing rooms available. If you're lucky there's an amazing food truck parked at the entrance with stellar tacos! Walking the beach or the pier is a relaxing delight. With some interesting historical markers and a great view of the Northside shor shoreline! You'll be driving through a residential area to get to the main parking area, but if you end up not finding parking you can always find a beach access walkway between houses and park alongside the road. This will put further down from the pier but along an amazing beach for kids, adults and family! We relaxed here, played with the kids here, flew out DJI drone, launched a sea kayaking tour, and learned to surf all on this wonderful stretch of beach! It certainly is the Swiss army knife of the Northside of Kauai! Do yourself a favor and plan a stop here, along with a day to explore and adventure! You certainly...
Read moreThis is one of the most beautiful places I visited in Kauai, and for sure, one of the clearest, most stunning beaches we discovered. If you are looking for light blue water with almost no waves, this is your spot. At least from our experience during our 3-4 visits on different days, while the beaches in the south have waves and are perfect for surfing, the water on this one was always quite, sometimes it looked like a mirror to the sky! Absolutely gorgeous. The sunsets here are a spectacle!
There are plenty of spots for parking on a parking lot near by.
There is a large pier at this location that allows you to walk and take pictures from different perspectives.
It is a fun place to swim and have a nice time with family and friends. I think this area is also pet friendly because I’ve seen dogs many times.
Now, there are not many spots where you can cover from the sun, so if you plan to spend hours at the beach I would recommend taking an umbrella, a tent, or something similar to protect yourself because it can get really hot, specially...
Read moreI’m honestly not a fan of the Hanalei side and the main reason is that there are just so many people. The beach is okay, but it does have some really nice views of the bay and the mountains which in my opinion is the only thing going for this beach.
We jumped off the pier...that was fun! Went up the metal stairs once and decided to swim back to shore to repeat jumps. The hanging stairs were so slippery from the algae and I was afraid we would slip and get our legs stuck… that’s my mom brain thinking 😅
There is a food truck (Pat’s Taqueria) near the parking lot. Pricey and not that good for what you pay for. I recommend bringing some pupu’s to enjoy instead.
It was an overall fun time, but didn’t stay long. Wish we didn’t have to sit so close to all the families visiting too. I like a more secluded and private beach where we’re not having to worry about kicking sand on the person tanning next to us. Personal preference so take that how you want, but that’s where we headed to after about an hour or so at...
