Amazing amazing amazing- maybe I should not write anymore, well… I will šŸ˜„. Captain Morri and Devon were very welcoming and more than happy to answer any questions any of the guests had, we went with them on their fun adventures three days in a row, and we were amazed by the most beautiful wildlife that Kona had to offer. Captain Morri is very knowledgeable about the wildlife and the different behavior of different ocean creatures. Both of them explained to us and the rest of the guests before and at the beginning of the ride all the safety procedures, around different kinds of wildlife, specifically oceanic white tip sharks, and Devon explained the different creatures we are possibly will encounter using his notebook with pictures of different types of ocean life.

We saw on the first day the rare rough tooth sultan dolphin, and humpback Whales. The second day we had one humpback whale, hang out with us on a distance, and then pass behind the boat with her baby, we also ended up in the water swimming with roughly 90 spotted dolphins passed by us greeting us and jumping in enjoyment on the boat wakes as well. On the third day the highlight of the trip was with two oceanic white tip sharks swimming below us and around us, it was amazingly intriguing to see a different behavior of such shark compared to other sharks we scuba dove and swim with in the past in different parts of the world, during the swim with the oceanic white tip sharks, Devon and one of his crew were with us and made sure we are safe and aware of the instructions that he shared with us on the boat, and captain Morri was also supervising all our activities in the water with the sharks professionally and with great care - I was very intrigued with a structure in the middle of the ocean, after asking I end up knowing that it is a fish farm, Captain Morri elaborated and explained to me how do they fish in it and how sometimes dolphins hang out in that area to catch some of the fish, and she further explained to one of the guests in details how the process of the fish eggs are produced then the stages to move it to the fish farm and then eventually as a grown fish ending up in the market and restaurants.

This is not the first time for us in Kona, and on boats in Kona, but riding with captain Morri and Devon and their crew was simply intriguing and amazing due to the effort they do to make sure that we see an enjoy ocean life, and due to the immense amount of ocean life knowledge they have while they’re also environmentally conscious and care about nature and sea life, for example, few times during the three days captain Morri and Devon stopped during the ride to pick up some fishing trash and objects to keep ocean clean - Mahalo to both of you for doing that šŸ¤™šŸ½.

I strongly recommend going out and enjoy ocean life with them while...

I’ve been on a few ocean safaris with this company and the experience of being in the water with wildlife is beautiful. However, the overall experience has repeatedly been undermined by poor business practices and a clear lack of customer care.

As someone who has been in business for myself for over 20 years, I’m very mindful not to be an entitled customer. I make an effort to communicate respectfully and with patience. I also know how important it is to make customers—especially repeat ones—feel appreciated and valued. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here.

Emails frequently go unanswered, even after multiple follow-ups. I once left a clothing item on the boat and reached out about it—they said they’d check, but I never heard back. One of the staff posted about a special trip, and I inquired for more information but received no response. On top of that, some products that were promised as part of a tour were never provided, and again, my emails about it were ignored.

I’ve referred several people to this company in the past, but it’s become clear that repeat business and loyal customers aren’t a priority. There are other companies offering ocean safaris in Kona, and I’ll be choosing to support those going forward—ones that not only provide a great experience on the water, but also treat their customers with the professionalism and respect they deserve. Ali’i Ocean Tours, See Through the Sea, Sunlight on Water, and Ocean Eco Tours will be ones I book with in the future in hopes of finding a company that values their customers; as it is clear that this tour company dealing mainly with people from out of town that do not care about repeat business.

EDIT: Messages were emailed. Only the message about the special trip that was posted on social media was inquired on social media. Other messages were emailed. If a business cannot keep track of emails, that is a poorly run business. The social media message was acknowledged and then info was never sent. This is not a one time occurrence. This is repetitive. Others that are from out of state will not experience this. But this is not how you run a business and not island style at all. I don’t want a discount, I want communication and promised items and to not be treated like a number or checklist. I waited years with issue over issue as I realize that everyone is human and mistakes happen, but after so many things it’s not a mistake but blatant lack of respect for...

Came to Kona looking for ocean wild life & yes, this tour delivered! shark diving is my thing so I was excited to dive with some oceanic white tips and we got them! We had 3! Wild life is wild life so you just never know what you’re going to get and nothing is ever guaranteed but the captain certainly knows the spot & how to get them! Sometimes you get lucky with a whale shark encounter or rough tooth dolphins, you just never know what the ocean will deliver to you that day! We headed out for pilot whales after the fish farm then went and found some swim through zones where it was a good time to play and have some fun photos taken if you picked up the photo package! I suggest the package! The photographer is amazing at capturing your moment w the animals and side activities like swim through caves, I was very happy with the end result of photos I received (I also shoot professional UW photography.) This is the crew you want when choosing a ocean tour! Informative, friendly, professional, fresh pineapple.... I mean YES PLEASE have you ever had fresh pineapple after a dive? So refreshing! Mmmm and juice! When you go ask them about the killer whale encounter with the sperm whales! This story it’s MIND BLOWING! An encounter that happened about a week before I got there and just knowing those animals are available in Kona ocean is incredible! Epic encounters with this crew! I included my own oceanic white tip shark photo the others shot by photographer Cam

Mahalo guys! I’ll be back!

P.s. they have fins, mask, & snorkel so no need to rent or buy! Also reef safe sunscreen so keep the spray kind off da boat! It’s bad for reef!...

I had two exceptional experiences with Kaimana Ocean Safari on 8/16/2024 and 8/19/2024! They were the highlight of our trip to Hawaii. The first day we swam with a massive bait ball, three manta rays participating in mating behavior, and many oceanic whitetip sharks! Kayleigh Grant and Morri Sides were excellent in and out of the water. They made sure we were all prepared for the wildlife we were going to encounter and ensured our safety in the water. We had such a good time we booked a second day with Kaimana when we returned. The second day we swam with a massive sperm whale in addition to manta rays and an oceanic whitetip shark! Cam Grant and Devoni Cartwright prepared us for the various encounters and ensured our safety in the water. The interaction with the Sperm Whale was unexpected and very exciting, and the crew did everything possible to give us a good chance to get in the water with the fast-moving whale. The boat is very comfortable and has ample storage space to keep bags, towels, and other items dry while at sea. They offered us snacks, drinks and freshly cut pineapple that everyone loved. They were all passionate about the animals and were happy to share troves of interesting information and stories. We bought the photography and GoPro video packages each day and they were well worth it. It was fun to see photos and videos of us with the animals and the video and photos of the wildlife were excellent. It allowed us to be more present and enjoy the experience rather than worrying about our own footage (we brought our own GoPros along, too!).

We had a fantastic time with Kaimana Ocean Safari and will book again on our next visit to the island. Morri captained our trip and Cam was our photographer and safety diver. They were both extremely knowledgeable, personable and totally unfazed by our active and inquisitive 6yo (who immediately established they all shared a love of both the ocean and dogs). We were fortunate to have some great sightings straight out of the harbor -- turtles, spinner dolphins and a very playful baby humpback -- so Morri had time to sail us farther south than usual for a calm place to snorkel that our kid could also enjoy. Our trip was right at the front end of a swell that ultimately ended up closing all of the beaches near where we were staying, so we also appreciated Cam's suggestion that we visit the beach near the harbor. It was beautiful, full of history and turtles, and was still snorkle-able when many other places weren't. An unexpected highlight came from collecting two large pieces of plastic trash which had developed their own little ecosystems. Both contained beautiful fish different from what we had seen on the reef, as well as many tiny crabs for my kid to rescue. We've taken a few different boat tours in Hawaii and while we enjoyed them all, this is the first one that we would do a second time. You'll get a completely different experience each time you go out, which is part of what makes it special. I highly recommend springing for the professional photos (compare photo taken by a fancy phone camera with Cam's photo)

Kayleigh, Cam and Liv were the absolute best crew. The semi-private nature of this tour made it extremely personal and fun. Although the ocean was a little rough on the day we went out, Captain Kayleigh did her absolute best to take us to areas known for potential pelagic wildlife. Our first stop was in search of oceanic whitetip sharks. Sadly, none to be found, but Cam made sure to snap some pictures and videos of us diving into the beautiful waters (thousands of feet deep)- a unique experience on its own. After our first stop, we started to make our way closer to shore. While doing so, Kayleigh got word of a pod of pilot whales. We excitedly changed our plans and headed back off shore. When we got to their location, we got in the water and waited patiently for the whales to swim past. Liv and Cam knew exactly what to do to get us in an amazing spot without harassing or disrupting the wildlife. We had over a dozen whales surround us and peacefully travel by. It was absolutely magical. After we got back in the boat, elated from our experience, we were informed that we could jump in one more time and have another experience. While fully taking in the amazing experience, I forgot to start my GoPro- but no worries, Cam made sure to share his footage with the group. On our way back to shore, we were treated to a pineapple snack and some spinner dolphins jumping out of the water :) Thank you to Liv, Kayleigh, and Cam for being true stewards of the ocean and making our day at sea one to remember.
