Lava Tree Molds — Attraction in Hawaii

This is a short 10 minute stop when going to the Volcano National Park or Kipukapuaulu Trail. The holes in the ground might not seem like much to some but they show where lava had covered the trees from an eruption long ago. There is not a bathroom here but there is one at the picnic area less than a mile up the road. They are a short drive from the volcano national park. The molds are just next to the road. So they are a really good quick stop that aren't too time consuming or if you have people with mobility issues or just tired child it doesn't require a lot of effort to see them.

These tree molds are worth the stop if you have the time. Very interesting to see. Guard rails block off these massive holes. Some molds reach several feet high, while some others are merely depressions. Could find so many big and small tree molds in this area. It's looks like deep wells. Parking is very limited, only two parking spots...
