All of the best food I've had has either come from either a food truck, or some random hole in the wall. This Thai food truck is absolutely incredible! The portions are huge and the food is extremely flavorful. I requested their spicy curry and it did not disappoint. Not only was it really spicy, but the flavor was out of this world. Paired with their Thai green tea, with coconut milk and you have a perfect meal. In addition to the food exceeding all expectations, the staff are incredibly friendly and treat you more like family than customers. If you're looking for something off the beaten path, definitely give this truck a try.
2025 Update They may have changed locations since the last time I was here but I swear their service and food have somehow gotten even better! This time I got the pineapple curry... When I say this was one of, if not, the most flavorful curry I've ever had, it's no exaggeration. A large quantity of food with the perfect ratio of pineapple to rice, and an abundance of curry to coat it all in. I'm hungry again just talking about it. To top it all off, their service is beyond excellent. The lady taking orders was all smiles with everyone, extremely friendly. Please take some time to come pay them a visit. Whether you live on the big island or are just visiting. Don't do yourself a disservice by not paying them a visit. I promise you...
Read moreIt is horrible for my diet these guys are SO talented. Let me explain something, some of these reviews aren't even the right Thai food truck. Tuk Tuk's truck is Green, and large. They used to be at the Cooper Center sometimes, that is now Aunty Pon's. Tuk Tuk used to be at the Volcano winery sometimes as well. Now they are at the Orchid Farm Tuesday to Saturday and signed a one year lease.
And, to the person that said they had an "emergency" trip to Thailand and didn't give any notice or update anyone, totally wrong, they had notices almost 2 whole months in advance.
This food is SO fresh and so amazing! I eat the chicken fried rice and chicken Pad thai both at medium spiciness. The pad thai is always hotter than the fried rice. I am NOT posting my new favorite because I wouldn't of discovered it except EVERYTHING else I love was sold out. Of course it is the week of Christmas and there are people everywhere. So when I go back on my diet I will put the newest amazing dish on here, my mouth is watering thinking about eating it again.
The other reviewer on here is correct, you can take your food into the Orchid Farm, they just ask you clean up after yourself. Lazy people that don't clean up after themselves should not go in so they don't ruin a good thing for...
Read moreAfter failing to find Aunty Pon's food truck up the street (maybe not in operation anymore) we went to Tuk-Tuk at 5p after spending the day in Volcanos NP. Had read reviews that they might be out of some items, but that was an understatement. They were out of spring rolls, all noodle dishes, all rice, and had no potatoes, so wouldn't make some curry dishes. They were also out of chicken, so only vegetable, shrimp, or tofu available. They did have some wide rice noodles that they used in place of rice. Ordered two curry dishes (green and red), a stir fry cashew dish, and a soup all with mild heat. Every dish seemed like a soup only some with noodles added. The green curry was much more spicy than the others. The cashew stirfry had no cashews and was more like a curry dish, so wonder if they gave us the wrong order. The flavors were ok, but overall I was unimpressed with the food, especially for the price, but limited options near the park. Overall, the young man at the register was very nice and pleasant, the service was fast, and the food ok. Maybe if we'd got there earlier in the day my impression would be different. But, how does a Thai place run...
