A friend recommended the bowling (we’re from the Midwest and love bowling). We decided to visit after our hiking mid-day 1pm. To our surprise we only saw 1 person working the cash register, bowling attendant and cooking food.
Of course we decided to remain patient and wait for food. Food was just okay even if you’re starving. Now for the fun part! Bowling!
Here is where I was totally wrong. As someone who knows even the bare minimum about how bowling alleys work. Sometimes the pins and/or ball can get stuck. My wife rolled 1 frame and after my 1 time rolling my ball, of course it got stuck.
Well, the 1 guy that works the whole area as the cashier, cook, bowling attendant. How was I going to ask him to stop taking the already backed up line of people to come out and unstick my ball.
So there goes my $40 spent on bowling and $60 on whatever tasting cafeteria food. Just hire 1 more person to handle bowling and cash register and it’s a 5...
Read moreYes, this is a a bowling alley grill but they’ve got some good choices (garlic fries were legit) and their prices are very reasonable. This is a good alternative to Volcano House if they’re packed or if you want to save some money. It’s open to the public so no worries there - you have to show Military ID to stay in their lodging but most other services, including the restaurant and nearby well-stocked general store are open to anyone (I asked one of the employees at the store). Just drive past the visitor center for a mile or so and you’ll see KMC on your right. Turn in at the second entrance and you’ll see the bowling alley which is a narrow, hangar-shaped building featuring six lanes and the snack bar. This building is connected to a lounge area that has pool tables, arcade games, etc. No line in the late afternoon on a Saturday and the service was prompt. No...
Read moreSmall 6 lane alley seemed like a good time for a couple new comers to the area. The cubby 40 something guy at the counter threw a fit about our 2 year old getting the ball stuck between the gutter and the bumper and asked us to leave. It was about time to go anyways so we started to pack up when my wife mentioned to him that his customer service sucked. He insulted her and my son. When I confronted him he asked me to go outside for a fight. His manager walked up at that time to see what was going on. He denied asking to step outside with me like a scared little kid trying to keep his kid job with a quick lie. Not sure why they would employ someone like that hope he gets fired so we...
