K.M.C. General Store — Local services in Hawaii

You are far from the city but near the camp and you probably don't expect much from a general store. However I was surprised how busy it was the one afternoon on weekday when we went. I was impressed with the selection of chips, snacks and touristy things. Albeit the size of most items were either large of extra large so that was disappointing for my small family (pun intended). the staff was helpful and friendly. I was really surprised they carried some basic groceries like steak, potatoes, onions and milk. I was told by a shopper that there are residents in the area so this acts like a very small grocery store. Lots of parking and hours are limited but a nice rest spot if you are passing by...

I didn’t know about this store until we drove around the park. It is a great store with great variety and good prices. We stopped by on June 19, 2020 around 1:30-2:00 pm and I would have given 5 stars if it had not been for the "unfriendly & rude" cashier. As a resident of the island I was pretty disappointed with the attitude we received. We walked in, said hello and she looked at me and said nothing. Me and my wife were looking to buy drinks and souvenirs as visitors to the national park. However, the man working in the store was following us around as if we were looking to shoplift, which made us extremely uncomfortable especially given he made no effort to greet us or make us feel welcome. We left without buying anything due to this behavior and luckily found a much more pleasant experience (offering much better products) not too far...
