Jim Thorpe Park — Attraction in Hawthorne

Surrounded by a mix of people. People that have children that live around the neighborhood trying to just take their kids to the park. That includes people that should not have been allowed to have children. Also people do not care for the obvious signs everywhere that say,"no smoking" people smoking in front of children. I saw to black guys throwing knifes at a tree. I guess perfecting their skills. After they were done they sat in their black suburban and sharpened the knifes. Latino people and black people majority hanging out. Not saying anything is wrong with anyone's race because I myself am of one of these ethnicities. But why is it that you have to break all the rules, cuss in front of kids act like you would fight anyone here. Just plain ghetto. Exactly what ppl from Manhatten beach or Hermosa and Torrance this about this place. Straight ebt, low rent paying sad upbringing cases. You have a few ppl that actually come here to enjoy the park in a legal manner. By not selling, doing drugs. If you live in this side of Hawthorne make sure you have a car and drive your kids to the Manhatten...

My kids love this park. I have a three year old, an eight and a seven. The sandlot is enclosed with not alot of exits so you can blink or look at your phone for 1.5 mins knowing your kids haven't wandered out and no weirdos wandered in. Sometimes the big kids invade the sandlot with their e cig smoking selves. These kids are probably about 12 to 13 and I'm gonna say something if I see them again. Especially about smoking in a pubic playground and being underage and smoking anything??? I only saw those kids one time in all the 6 years I've come here. They probably moved back to the Camelitas. Lol jk I will be nice. This park also have cement benches and tables to throw a small party but come early and take your tables while they're available. Everyone seems nice around here. I think some renovation is needed here at Jim Thorpe park . some new jungle jim replacements and add ons to existing jungle jim and most definitely basketball courts need a make over not a micky mouse and also there should be a after school program for boys and girls club. Some new led lights for the light polls also equipment. Should be made available for surrounding residents in the area with a parent id or there school id to show for rental purposes and to show kids early reasponsiblities and show there parent/ or parents they can also be responsable also new toddler swings and kid swings .new baseball equipment for baseball field .and new paint job on restrooms and new city park signs and some love to the trees pls and a thought ice ring would be pretty cool 😎 ASAPN PLS IMMEDIATE ACTION...
