For many - escape rooms are a hobby. For me they are an addiction! I've seen, experienced, and even designed MANY different rooms, and I can honestly say - I LOVE THIS PLACE! The Other Tales is in a very easy to find location with plenty of free parking (always a plus). There is a warm, comforting, "cozy" feeling about the place which is extremely rare in escape game company locations which, for some reason, are often (but not always) found in dark-alley, side-door, unmarked building, I-think-we-are-going-to-die-here types of places. But not this place. We were greeted by the warm, friendly smile of Alex, our game master for the evening, who gave us all the details of the adventure we were about to undertake, and covered all the rules and literally answered every question we had before we even had a chance to ask them.
The room itself was absolutely beautiful! The lighting set the perfect tone for the mystery we were trying to solve. Every piece of furniture, every decoration, every detail was perfectly selected for the theme of the room - without the slightest hint of wear & tear - which is a HUGE testament to the owners proving that these are some people who didn't just throw together a room for the sake of raking in some quick bucks - these guys CLEARLY care about their rooms - and it shows!
The room had a great blend of puzzles and hidden surprises. The puzzles were not only fun, very well thought out, and challenging, but each puzzle also served to form a narrative - revealing more and more of the story of the room as you worked your way through each one - to a VERY gratifying ending (if you manage to finish before time runs out, that is).
I tip my hat to Alex and the think-tank behind The Other Tales. I was pleasantly, and genuinely surprised by the quality of "Amazing Adventure Society: The Forgotten Room" which had me and my friends literally wanting more. PLEASE check this place out. You will be very...
Read moreFour of us came to The Other Tales for the first time after finding it on Google and not being able to book other escape rooms in the area. This place had great reviews already, so we had pretty high expectations. All members of my party also had experience with escape rooms, both in-person and online, so we were looking forward to trying out a new place.
The location is a non-descript office building but they have a big sign on the outside, so it is hard to miss. There was enough parking in the front / sides of the building but street parking was also available.
I booked the Amazing Adventure Society room today and our guide Bariq, was excellent. He ran us through the rules quickly and gave us agency with the background for the room before we went in. The theme of the room matched the description well and the extra narrative tidbits that came up as we went along was a nice touch.
No spoilers as to any of the puzzles but we got through most of the room unaided and only needed one or two hints towards the end. Bariq was good about letting us struggle for a bit before asking if we wanted help. The puzzles covered a range of different puzzle types and all of them connected to each other in a meaningful way.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time and look forward to trying out the other two rooms in the future. If you are a fan of escape rooms, definitely check...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of experiencing the "Once Upon A Winter" room with my wife, and it was an absolute blast! From the moment we entered the venue, Bariq (our Escape Room guide) took care of us and immediately got us started with the scenario.
The actual "Once Upon A Winter" room was cozy, cute, and creative. The set design was relatively simple (you won't find "hidden" rooms here!) but engaging in an impressive way. The puzzles were challenging yet solvable, requiring both teamwork and individual problem-solving skills. The variety of puzzles kept us engaged and I can honestly say there was never a dull moment.
Bariq was the perfect guide, giving us help when we needed it without giving away too much and allowing us to feel the satisfaction of figuring things out on our own. His "hints" were all in-line with the theme and (without spoiling anything) added an extra layer of immersion to the experience.
The pacing of the puzzles was perfect, and the hour flew by. We almost couldn't believe it when we had solved it, and there were only a few minutes left on the clock!
All in all, great experience and would definitely go back to try out their...
