Trailside Park — Attraction in Herndon

I really like this park. It's right off of Crestview, a sharp right turn from the right by the traffic light and a left turn after the pedestrian/bike path. Now, the parking lot is small, but it's not usually packed unless there are families having picnics. The park has a skateboard park inside the park, which are two adjacent concrete structures the skaters use almost all year round when the weather permits. I did some diminish with my drone without issues or major obstacles filming some of the local skaters. It was a pleasant experience as the park provided additional space to conduct the filming. Keep in mind that close by the Herndon golf club is adjacent to the park in two directions, but separated to Keri park goers and golfers at a same distance. Trailside Park has a picnic area and a decent size kid obstacle it playground to the far left of the park entrance, so children will be safe. Trailside Park has a great mix of activities available for all ages. There are swings for toddlers and larger humans, a separate toddler playground and taller one that is more appropriate for taller ones, plenty picnic tables, benches, several grills, water fountain, and even something appropriate to water your dog or prepare for water balloon wars! There is also a nice pavilion, skate park, ample shaded areas, open field space, and good parking lot. Trailside Park has a lot to offer.

Now you may be wondering to yourself, "then why only 4 stars?" Toilets are the Achilles heel here. They have porta-potties, but no bathrooms, despite having running water on-site. That is going to...

This could be an excellent park, but sadly the town is not maintaining it. The merry-go-round, one of the few in the town of Herndon for public use, has been broken for years now. They just don't ever fix it, much less put up a sign explaining it is broken and we might hope to have it fixed in 10 years.
