If you are craving ground chicken or beef kabobs, please look no further, Shalimar Charcoal Kabob has got to be the BEST kabob house in Northern Virginia. Very recently, I needed to go out of state to visit my parents who have no kabob houses near them and that was the one thing my elderly father was craving. I had ordered kabobs a few years ago from this restaurant, so I knew how amazing and delicious these kabobs were. I called the restaurant thinking I could just pick up the kabobs the day before and freeze it and take it with me in my carry-on bag the following day. The person that I was talking to is the owner of Shalimar Charcoal Kabob whose name is Omar Farooq. He suggested that he could bring it to me personally so that way my father could eat it as fresh as can be. My father ate it that night and was so touched that an owner of a restaurant went out of his way to make sure this customer would have a wonderful experience. Overall, not your fine dining experience one is looking for. It is your typical desi Pakistani restaurant so I guess you cannot expect too much. But we have actually been going here since they first opened up. Miss and hit with most food options. For example the quantity of food changes and the taste of chapli kabob doesn’t seem to be consistent. Buffet items are ok and most of the time fresh, apart from the white rice and the biryani as a they look cold and taste bland with no seasoning. They are very good with bringing out the bone in chicken for the buffet and refilling currys. My wife and I favorite is their charga.
