I tried to get change so noone else would have to go through what she did I asked for a letter of apology from that hospital they said they weren't allowed the corporate level wouldn't allow it this was never about money but for what's right but now it's got to be about money to get what's right that's why they keep doing people like this they always get by with it.and if I can find enough people that has been treated like this a class action lawsuit isnt out of the question.i can't believe I let that sorry hospital kill my wife i should have never listened to them i should have never trusted what they told me they did nothing else right ive got to live with this the rest of my life it has ruined me they failed my carla and i did too for letting them im still looking for the compassion they say you get at frye ive wrote the ceo of frye no response so none there either its pitiful her name was carla jean stewart the greatest woman ive ever met she was more than a old sick patient to me isnt it a shame that a hospital can be so cruel and cause so much misery and dont have to answer for it or even say im sorry but at least i know they will answer for it when they stand stand before god that's if my attorney doesnt get it done first was just just hoping carlas story may save a life and stop someone else being put through this she didnt deserve it and noone else does either can't beleive i let this hospital hurt my babydoll ,they say changes were going to be made but i havent heard of any and beleive me i tell carlas story to everyone i meet hoping it might save a life im battling cancer and i tell Carla's story to all the doctors and nurses i meet so they know how bad frye hospital has gotten i do this for my carla I did discover that the steroids she was given made her condition worse .I've got cancer now but the doctors and nurses in chapel hill unc cancer center knows carlas story and how sorry a hospital frye is amen bottom line is this hospitals substandard care cost my wife her life.they still owe my wife and I an apology for such suffering they caused us.and to the people who think this hospital is so great ask for the doctors and nurses my carla had and see how great it is theres no excuse for it .and for me I've got cancer but all my doctors know to never send me anywhere with frye in its name il not help finance such cruelty bottom line frye hospital cause my carla a miserable death and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRecently, I had a very close family member admitted to Frye Regional Medical Center for a scheduled heart catherization with stent placement. I will refer to this family member as Mr. M for anonymity sake. My family and I understand that this loved one is somewhat of a complicated case having congestive heart failure and COPD but the cardiologist thought it was a good idea to perform the procedure anyways and we agreed. The nurse who worked in the cardiac cath lab was amazing. She talked through the procedures with my family and was very caring. However, after the procedure was performed things seemed to decline from there. He was admitted to the telemetry floor after having this procedure. There was a particular nurse on this floor that was very hateful. Mr. M started bleeding after the procedure and had a very elevated blood pressure (BP), which was unusual for him. So we simply asked why his BP was staying so elevated and if the cardiologist had been notified and the nurse very curtly stated that the doctor already knew and walked out of the room without an answer of why his BP was so high. She also felt it necessary to tell us that she had four other patients that she needed to take care of as well. Five to ten minutes later she returned saying that she just spoke with the cardiologist and he wanted to admit him to the cardiac care unit (CCU) because his blood pressure was too high. He was then admitted to CCU. He stayed there that night and into the next day on a medication drip to lower his BP. He stayed in the CCU for 2 days and was only offered a bath and shave once. Also on the last day, before discharge, they found bed bugs on a blanket lying on the bed. The nurses then isolated him and accused him of bringing the bed bugs in the facility. All of the other rooms he had been in, which was a total of 4, had no signs of bed bugs and his suitcase from home did not have bed bugs in it either. After the nurses found this, they only came into his room on an as needed basis and he felt like they were neglecting him. His BP remained elevated throughout the entire visit and the cardiologist thought it was a good idea to review the pictures obtained during the procedure. The doctor found another larger blockage, which was initially missed, and wanted to place another stent. Mr. M refused to have this done because he felt like he had already been through too much. After being discharged, an orderly took Mr. M out to the vehicle to leave. The orderly was advised that he needed to change his oxygen tank out because the family member would run out before we got home. He refused, stating he would have enough to get home. However, the family memberās oxygen tank ran out before arriving home. We understand that everyone is human and mistakes are going to be made but this was not just an isolated incident. This entire visit from the procedure being performed through the discharge was a horrible experience. We would not suggest this facility to anyone. If you looking to receive TLC from the nursing staff then this is definitely not the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will say that the Frye Medical Center ER department needs to greatly work on their customer service skills. My mom brought me to Frye Medical Center ER on 7-13-17 due to having an active miscarriage and was concerned my body wouldn't pass all the tissue on its own (I'm from out of town and my OBGYN appointment wasn't until 7-25-17). I had went to an ER in Virginia the day before (7-12-17) and found out I had a blighted ovum and a missed abortion (fetal pole stopped developing at 6 weeks 2 days and my body failed to see I was no longer carrying a viable pregnancy until almost 7 weeks later). The ER in Virginia didn't bother doing a D&C while I was there.
When my mom had brought me into the Frye ER, they were in no major rush to try to get me back there (they could even see I was in an immense amount of pain). The triage nurse did not know what a blighted ovum was and even had to look up how to spell it on her phone in front of me and my mom. My mom asked the front desk several times how long it was going to be until I was brought back, and it wasn't until I started bleeding (I had started to pass a bunch of tissue) all over a white chair in the waiting room for them to get things in motion. After I got into a room, I didn't see much out of my assigned nurse and the ER doctor. The assigned nurse blew out 3 of my veins trying to get an IV in. After shift change, another nurse managed to get an IV in after 1 try. The pad I was also laying on was not changed much (I passed a lot of tissue and the sac onto the pad). I was sent up to ultrasound to have a vaginal ultrasound done to see if I had any tissue left. After the ultrasound was done, I was left up there for what felt like a good 20 or so minutes before I was brought back down to the ER. The ER doctor said it looked like everything had passed on its own going based off of the ultrasound. My mom had mentioned to him that with her last miscarriage, the ER she had went to had told her she passed everything and she ended up hemorrhaging due to them not double checking (you can bleed heavily and get a serious infection if the tissue and sac/placenta are not cleared out entirely). The ER doctor ended up doing another vaginal exam and found that I still, in fact, had tissue and the placenta in my cervix/uterus. He couldn't even tell if it was the placenta or sac that was in my cervix at that point (I knew it had to have been the placenta because I had seen the sac earlier when it had passed). He decided to call the on-call gynecologist to set up a D&C. A lady came in to get my medical history and surgery history for the anesthesiologist while I was still in the ER. The lady was extremely rude and told my mom she had to come over and fill out the paperwork for me, even though I was capable of filling it out on my own.
The nurses and doctors/surgeons up in same day surgery were far nicer and treated me far better. My mom even said that if she has to go to the ER in the future, she refuses to go to Frye due to everything that...
