Came here for the 1st time a day ago and my buddies and I had a blast! I only play 2-3 times a year so very seldom. I have only ever played on Poco Loco's place and for me OX is better for its higher, more frequent playing time. I feel that @ Poco there's too much downtime. @ OX if you can, you can jump on either the next Woodsball game, or the next Hyper Ball game, and you're not held to a particular schedule. @ Poco, if you missed your assigned group's next play time for whatever reason, you are SOL for 30-45 mins until your group finished playing and came back. You cannot jump onto other group's play time. Unlike @ OX, if allowed and you politely ask the group in front waiting, they may want for you to join them to play.
Only gripe I had about OX was their one or two Woodsball fields. Muddy AF! Bring boots bro. But I like speedball/hyperball anyways due to the quick pace of game. @OX, I actually broke a sweat because of the amount of continuous play on their speed/hyper ball stage.
They also provide food at a cost. Not the best, not the worst. You Refuel on your calories in a jiffy. As I mentioned before, since you are allowed to jump into any group that is about to play and has room for your party, I did not feel rushed or hurried to gulp my food down. I knew that I would have no problem in finding play time as soon as I was finished with my food.
Staff was friendly but strict (which is HIGHLY needed in these establishments for safety reasons.) They know how to get the message across without rambling. Short and concise instructions which are easier to remember.
If you have your own equipment and you politely ask the refs if you can fill your own tank, they will show you how and allow you to fill your own. I thought that was considerate of them to do. I hate to wait and also occuppy an employee's time for something that takes less than a min. to do.
I will DEFINITELY be coming back in the...
Read moreI have been playing at this field since the early 2000's. It has changed name a few times since. This is a good place for new players. Referees are nice & helpful. They have a nice speed ball field for small groups and nice sized fields for walk-ons to feel like part of a team. Rental markers are good. Here is why there is only 2 stars & it pains me because I love playing here. Basic upkeep has become a thing of the past. Baseball sized rocks were left on a field after some bore holes were drilled, perfect to fall and/or slip on. The pallets that were placed on the trails to get to the fields should have been replaced long ago. Most of the boards are broken and it is only a matter of time for someone to twist an ankle. The fields are a mess with overgrown weeds between and around the bunkers were players don't step. Simple rutts and exposed tree roots are no longer being filled in. They now only have two referees working each field who stay near the bases. There is no longer a 3rd floater referee to help out with player issues. Small issues can become heated arguments since there is no referee on hand. Nobody wants to see two or more players screaming at each other. Thier paint is expensive and the quality is getting much worse. When I miss the old paint that was bad, there is something wrong. I do not mind paying for good paint, not very low quality that has broken / deformed balls in the bag! Offer the cheap paint at reasonable prices for new players. Have premium paint at a premium price for players who care about the paint they use. Not sure is management has given up on the field or not. Seems like somebody is asleep...
Read moreOverall I would save the time and money by not going to this place. Our team of eight people came here for their Halloween event last weekend. It was an absolute disaster from a communication and safety perspective. The teams were pre-made from online registration prior to the day and here are some of the issues that followed:
SAFETY ISSUES Your safe areas/re-spawn points were surrounded during the events to the point where the other team was shooting into the safety nets area and hitting people who thought they were safe. The referees sat around and did nothing to back them off the spot until multiple people took hits to include one person in the neck with mask almost down (First Strike round) and someone getting hit inside the netting itself from another player. *Your company's usage of first strike rounds and allowing "bunkering" is a dangerous practice, and needs to be adjusted. *
COMMUNICATION This event was easily outnumbering for one side, instead of balancing the teams you let it continue to the point where multiple people left because of the unbalanced situation. Additionally, your refs weren't on the same page at all. A lot of them had given different instructions and safety rules to different groups.
As a frequent customer of paintball fields this was one of the worst I have been to. I hope going forward there are some changes to your protocols to make it a competitive but safe environment for all. This will be the first and last time we do business with...
