Nice park in a beautiful area close to Burke’s beach. We took our dog to the dog park and they have a small dog section and a big dog section. Big dog section full of dogs having a great time. There were no dogs in the small section so our dog had no other pups to play with. Will try again, but a little worried as there is no grass and lots of brush and weeds and leaves, etc and scared snakes would come out of hiding or other critters or insects... but hey, it’s an outdoor park, so... I do wish there was grass to cut down on all the dirt a bit as she was full of dirt from...
Read moreChaplin Park is easily accessible by bike if you are staying at Palmetto Dunes, Shelter Cove, or Hilton Head Resort and the Marriott by Burke Beach. It’s a great place to play tennis (well maintained public and free!!) with bathrooms. It has a nice bike path and a dog park ( it’s kinda hidden but you’ll find it). If you drive you will have to pay to park, a minimal fee I’m sure (sorry I don’t know how much it costs). You can also park there for the Burke beach. I’m beginning to learn pickle ball and it was a good place to practice on the tennis courts. No pickle...
Read moreChaplin Park is pretty large and has walking/running/bike trails, open fields used for soccer, field days, concerts, etc., tennis/pickleball/basketball courts, kids adventure cove, fenced dog park, bath houses everywhere, and plenty of free beach parking with access to Burkes Beach. The only thing they need to work on is lighting - it gets very dark after sunset in the streets and trails.
