Burkes Beach is fantastic! Great Family beach. The Beach is very clean, Large and not nearly as crowded as some of our other beaches on Hilton Head Island. There is usually plenty of Parking available when we have been there (unless it's a holiday). The parking is $1 per hour which is very reasonable. There are teller machines that accept cash and credit card to pay for your parking space. There is a very long board walk to get down to the beach but worth the walk for sure! Burkes Beach, Folly Field Beach area gives you access to miles of beaches lining the Atlantic Ocean side of Hilton Head Island - The second largest barrier island on the East Coast! Hilton heads significant tidal swing gives our beaches a great mixture of hard packed sand to easily walk and ride bikes on as well as soft sands past our high tide line. I am a little bias as I love the low country that we get to call home, but this is a beautiful beach for sure. Our beaches seem to draw more of a family atmosphere verse the party crowd you see in other places. We Love Hilton Head and everything it...
Read moreWe had a wonderful stay right within walking distance of Burke's Beach. It was a lovely time. Loved we could take our dogs during certain hours, would definitely stay here again. No issues with jellyfish although something tiny bit me and stuck on me-- not sure what it was. It is the ocean, after all.... Also, the beaches here are VERY long. Prepare to walk a lot.
Of note, when you see a no parking sign.... Believe it. We watched many vehicles be towed from this area. They want people parking in Chaplin Park next door now... But seems to be a very hard concept for people to grasp. It's on the right as you come down Burke's Beach road. It's almost impossible to turn around down that street or back up so I see why they want people to do it. You...
Read moreAll the beaches are beautiful on Hilton Head Island, however, Burkes Beach is hands down one of my favorites! There is a beautiful walk out to the water. The parking can be slim pickin's if you go during the day, there are metered spots that fill up quick. But if you want to go for sunset (Which I highly recommend) parking is easy, and everyone is incredibly friendly. And the nice thing about few spots to park, is that this part of the beach is WAY less crowded.
We also take our doggie here when we visit. They are allowed off leash after 5PM in Sept, and they will have a blast! There is also a doggie station near the entrance to the beach if you forget a poop bag or want to discard one in...
