Parking went smooth and had availability each day we went. You park and remember your space number and there is a kiosk at the building that you walk through to enter the beach on a long boardwalk. The boardwalk is very well maintained and has shade throughout on the way to the beach. It also is made with composite decking, so no splinters.
The beach has nice clean sand (except for some bamboo type shoots scattered throughout, but not bad) the sandy area meets the high tide zone at a small hill that drops slowly out onto compacted sand that is easy to walk. The waves are really fun to ride as the tide comes back towards high tide time. The sand in the ocean is soft as well and the drop is very gradual as you wade out. Bathrooms were clean and wash off area has the standard rinse towers as well as two water hoses with sprayers which really rinse things off quickly. There is a children’s park area as well as two shelters for picnicking. There is also at least two parking places for RV length vehicles. Parking was $1 an hour. Sunday the kiosk was turned off. Not sure if that is scheduled or not. Dog...
Read moreThe excessive walking trail was very untheraputic a vibe kill yes my 1st visit to this beach.🤔 Chose a spot not near the crowded area; daughter purchased 2 loungers without the umbrella because I still like my 6ft distancing. 🗣😷 So I was planning on sticking my feet in the 🌊...nope, I covered myself with my towel and sipped. Then watched a truck get stuck in the sand🤷🏿♀️🤔🤣. Then after that fiasco, the young lady renting chairs and umbrellas approached my family . STATED PER her Supervisor ,wanted to know if we could move to another location ...now we were here before this non driver decided to venture into soft beach sand .He decided not to take the path created, but go behind in the soft unpacked sand.👀😎🤐🤔 No ma'am we not moving we and another family are Leaving at this point because you buy parking time. So it's a hard No for Me returning to Drissen Beach any time...
Read moreThis beach is very safe, clean, and peaceful. I came from Atlanta on 5/30/2020, Saturday. Left Sandy Springs at 7:40 am. Arrived to this beach at 12:45 pm. I paid $4 for parking with coins at the meter. I changed in the bathroom, which was clean and large. And then I took a pleasant walk through the park to the beach.
Thus park has a wheelchair-accessible beautiful playground, multiple picnic tables, swings, slides, etc.
There are showers to cleanup, which I appreciated because I was covered in sand and had a 4.5-hour trip back to Atlanta.
The lifeguards were super-friendly. People behave, so it’s peaceful and clean. I ran in the beach, I walked, I did a plank, I swam, I met new friends, I ate lunch, and I participated in the baby-shark rescue operation!
So much fun! I’m...
