Riverview Park — Attraction in Hobart Township

This review is for the entire department. We had our annual picnic there in September. We used these facilities for the past few years, however this was our worst experience. We paid almost $200 for renting the facility, which is fine if you get the BASIC SERVICES expected. They never cleaned the pavilion, prior to our event, we came early and it was good that we did, because we had to clean the facility ourselves . The garages reeked from not being emptied in a long time, the rest rooms were extremely dirty, with NO PAPER TOWELS OR HAND SOAP. 2 out of 3 washrooms were too filthy to use, with flies and other insects taking over.....with all of this being said, we went to management with pictures of proof to no avail. They not only disputed what we as the customer said and had proof of, they never gave us the courtesy of a call, which was requested. This was very poor customer service and lack of care from management, which shows in the appearance of the park facilities. We will definitely have our events elsewhere next year and I would advise everyone else to...

Let me start off by saying that this park is great for those needing extra shade from the summertime sun. The playground is broken into 2 sections to accommodate different ages as well as some fresh recycled tire mulch, which makes for a soft landing. There are multiple trash cans and portable restrooms located throughout the park. Unfortunately, I do have to critique the unkempt parts of the playground, which would include some broken swings, a broken handle for the slider bar, and a missing tire swing. Great place for family fun. Baseball fields, Archery range, river for fishing. Rent out the cabin or shelters for a nice family BBQ. And enjoy the pool with slide during the summer months. And be sure to ask the Parks department for info about the Civil Air Patrol unit (Lake County Cadet Squadron) that meets there weekly. Excellent program for teens (12-18). Where they can volunteer their time as well as learn leadership, character development, , discipline, etc. Excellent program. The Park is always doing events as well throughout the year.
