This review is only about the management and maintenance staff of The Peninsula and Colony. This location is beautiful from a landscaping and construction point of view, but the terrible maintenance crew has let this place become a bit rough around the edges and well on the way to being run down in a couple years down the road. I can't count the number of times I see the maintenance crew hiding from work... they can often be found in the shade of the parking garage or even hanging out in the barbecue/pool area relaxing and leering at residents who are trying to enjoy the pool, almost like they're offended we are in their favorite break time spot. Those things are annoying, but it wouldn't be nearly as bad if the property was well maintained, but sadly it's looking rough and you're considered an annoyance if you report it. I'm sure you know the type ... The "workers" that just want to hangout and chat all day and you, the I customer/resident, are just in the way. I'm a reasonable person, therefore I only expect a reasonable upkeep of the esthetics and preventative maintance to keep things from falling apart. With that, I would say a few examples of my point is that 1/4 of the exterior lights in the complex are burned out and the one's that do work often have mixed matching bulbs, which looks extremely bad...definitely not what you would expect for the cost of living here. Many fixtures are rusted over and also look bad... Paint has failed all over the complex. The biggest point to make is that these projects are stacking up and in a couple years the lack of maintenance will have ruined this beautiful property. The maintenance staff is not equal to the task of keeping the property nice. Of course, they always have an answer of why they can't fix things, but it's just words. I see these guys just sitting around all day. If you want to live here, I would recommend renting and not buying, as the best days (and value) are in the rear view... at least on the present course anyway. I'm including pictures so that you may judge for yourself. Keep in mind these pictures are just a few examples of a widespread, complex-wide problem. I'd also like to mention that the landscapers are top notch and a far cry from the maintenance crew. From a landscaping perspective, you just can't find better than this property. Great job to the contract...
Read moreI have lived here for 11 years but my experience here has suddenly become very different. Half of the handicap stalls in the community have become 15min loading/unloading zones (for which you need a handicap placard to use), 2/3 of all stairways at the apartment complexes have become inaccessible and the 1/3 which are accessible for use are dirty and rusty (and elevators go out of service Very often), residents are sometimes notified before a towing but sometimes not, and while calling the front office to inquire about some of these things, we've been rudely hung up on, which was among the worst of the new changes made to our community. I may seem petty and upset; perhaps it is because I am, or perhaps it is because other than through this one star review on the internet, I am unable to voice my concern....
Read moreYou pay for what you get. The maintenance staff is okay isn't the greatest but the place is nice and you are in a great location. The pools are nice, there are a few noisy neighbors but that's in every living facility. Overall, id say that this place is a bit overpriced but if you want garage parking it is worth it. The single bed rooms are NOT worth it. However, the 2-4 bedrooms are worth looking at. Im actually torn between giving the place 3 or 4 stars. Also in the review below me the security and maintenance has been changed and is much better...
