We went on soft opening night, and there were a lot of things going for it: very affordable dinner menu (most entrees below $20), solid drinks, and a great server who was attentive. I’d give it a couple weeks, though, for them to iron out the kitchen kinks … took 45 minutes from being seated to getting our food. Our server, who also works at the Waikiki location, was apologetic but there wasn’t much she could do. We saw that tables around us weren’t getting their dishes any faster - but we were patient since we knew that it was their first night. She acknowledged they expected a slow night …. But Hawaii Kai has been waiting for this place to open, so expect crowds as word gets out. The food was excellent - my husband loved his Fish Tacos - the fish in my Fish and Frites and in his dish were fresh and perfectly fried, as good as Nico’s in town. The fries were ok. They didn’t change the old Liko’s layout or decor much - tonight the crowd seemed younger compared to the Liko’s regulars, hopefully this means they’ll be drawing from a wider dining pool. We’ll return after a couple weeks and I fully expect to award more stars once their kitchen hits their stride.

I got to experience it in their first week open, and it's my new favorite in the area. Kassidy behind the bar was great, Chad was super friendly and helpful, and the chef, Rob, made some of the best food I've had in a while. Tons of beer options, liquor, and food. There is plenty of seating, a pool, and darts. They also say that coming soon, there will be slips to park your goat or jet ski and enjoy. Highly recommend, and the shishito peppers and poke bowl are phenomenal.

Tropics Hawaii Kai is officially open! We tried the buffalo pizza—crispy crust, just the right amount of heat, and full of flavor. The blistered shishito peppers were perfectly charred and so addictive!

We were also lucky enough to sample a few possible Italian desserts from Chef Nicole’s family recipes, and they were absolutely delicious. They are homemade, authentic, and made with love.

Big shoutout to bartender Tod for the excellent service and friendly vibes. He really made the experience even better. You can feel the aloha spirit in every detail here. Can’t wait to come back for...

We went to restaurant first time. We got kings wings chipotle bbq was flavorful chicken was good quality and if they came out when they were made would have been extra fire. We also got a buffalo chicken pizza I liked it needed a little bit more buffalo sauce but was yum! We also got clam linguine was non flavorful was pasta and water and clams no seasoning or sauce. We had a wonderful waiter her name was Keke she was so kind helpful and hospitable. Her customer...
