MiO’s Designs Barbershop - Kalihi — Attraction in Honolulu

I’m only giving 4 stars because other stylists here came through for my kids BUT make sure if you’re a person of color and have textured hair to not book with Tony. He will ignore you and make your kids feel like they’re a problem. I normally don’t say anything but this really bothered me. We had an appt with Tony today. Instead of coming to me about my kid’s appt that he just kept saying in front of my kids to other stylists “I can’t do it”. He ignored us and made other stylists do it. Which is fine but very unprofessional for someone to do that. Maybe he should document on his listing he can only cut certain types of hair or color of skin instead so certain people know to stay away. It’s ok, overall my experience was ok because the other stylists at this location came through and cut their hair but I don’t appreciate feeling like we are a problem and saying “I can’t do it” in front of kids making them feel like they’re a problem. He took another customer right in front of us after saying “I can’t do it” multiple times in front of my children. Honestly my past experiences here with Nick have been fine (but he wasn’t available and my oldest child had an event to go to) but I’ll make sure to NEVER book with Tony ever again. Edit to also say that my oldest child is 14 years old, which required an adult haircut. My younger child is 6 years old and when I booked it he had options for ages for children and adults. Also, I understand that it may not have been his intention, but it was very unprofessional to not then at least go up to the parents and/ or customer and explain your situation instead of...

I had a fantastic experience at Mio Design Barbershop! Ms. Mio is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable—she took the time to understand my hair structure and suggested curling it to create more volume, which turned out beautifully. I love how my new hairstyle enhances my overall look!
