I came across this place typing in "chicken katsu" on Google Maps. Boy, was that a mistake... Absolute WORST customer service I have ever had from a restaurant in my lifetime. Tried to order through GrubHub...

  1. "Special" Tempura & California Roll - this was listed as available on GrubHub, but we were told after our order was delivered that it was a LUNCH ONLY item that was not available for dinner; GrubHub charged us for the double order we put in, but Kikuya did not fulfill that part of the order, nor did they informed us prior to sending our food to us. Ding on Kikuya for not checking their GrubHub listings, and Ding on GrubHub for trying to rip us off by charging us for a dish that was not available. FAIL.
  2. When we tried to call Kikuya directly about this matter, we got the run around. Workers do not have a good grasp of the English langauge, and we ended up talking in circles. After comparing notes with my other half, which we both talked to the "staff," we figured out they were switching the phone to at least 3 different people. When I asked the lady "What langauge do you speak?" She replied, "I speak English." To which I replied, "No, it is not English, as you have a very heavy accent." To which she replied with...nothing, crickets, dead air. After about 15 seconds, she goes "Hello?" FAIL. I don't know how this place gets so high reviews??? How do other customers avoid such incompetence??? We asked another acquaintance on Kikuya, and they said they had very bad experience with this restaurant. Folks, skip this place and just go to Hanyang next door - way better food and way...

Came here for lunch on a Wednesday and got the lunch special where you can choose two items from the list. My husband chose grilled salmon and sashimi and I chose the butterfish and sashimi. I loved the hot barley tea they served with our water! Then the sweet pickled cabbage was so crunchy ❤️. Miso soup was perfect and the tempura shrimp that came with our bento was so light and crispy. Dressing in the salad was good too but just a bit too much dressing. I thot the portion of grilled butterfish was a bit small. My husbands grilled salmon was double the amount of fish that I had. Quality over quantity I guess and maybe the butterfish was a more expensive cut of fish 🤷‍♀️. I would highly recommend but advise you get something other than the butterfish if you are...

First time to Kikuya! The portion sizes are very generous and there is quite a bit of bento/teishoku-style food available.

The sushi here is pretty solid, too, and the service is quick. I had ordered the lunch box with beef teriyaki and tonkatsu. The teriyaki and tonkatsu was good, but I was very excited to see it came with a piece of super good tempura.

Highly recommend coming here, but this placed filled up quick! We arrived shortly after they opened at 11 and by 12 there was a small line to get a seat, even with the rain!

Food: 5/5 Staff: 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Value:...

This is a no-frills, plain good Japanese restaurant. The dining room was packed and most people were Asian, a good sign. They had no room for me so they opened the patio which was very basic. All the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. The miso soup was delicious, they also brought me hot tea and water. I ordered some sashimi and garlic shrimp, it came with a salad, Tsukemono and rice. The Hamachi was really good and the garlic shrimp came sizzling in cast iron on a bed of onions. It was a very tasty and filling meal and it was nice to sit on the patio with a breeze.
