The residents of Hope Mills have waited several years after the dam broke and reconstruction efforts had challenges. The weight is now over. Hope Mills lake is back and even better!!! The facilities are family friendly. It's great for photography and it's just a beautiful place in general. There are kayak rentals as well, but it's just a nice simple way to enjoy the outdoors for the local community. Community. The lake is nice but seems to have high bacteria rate most likely do to the amount of people swimming there. There is a small fenced in playground next to the big Ts snack shop. Since when are animals not allowed at a lake to go kayaking? This is not a “pet friendly” lake yet the people who live on the lake have their animals in the water all the time.
