ABSOLUTELY AWFUL DOOR was locked at 6:30pm. Cashier stated that she was the only one working and needed to get the crowd down then she would more people in in about 15 minutes. I left and came back. She had 1 customer left but still wouldn't open the door. Then she stops ringing the customer and writes a sign stating that she won't open until 7:30pm. There was 1 young man outside waiting when I got back and we were discussing the door being locked when there was only one customer in the store. Then we switched topics to " how when you really need something you can never run into a store and out". I told him that there wasn't anything that I " NEED" but something that I was looking for for my grandson. I couldn't remember what it was called so I yelled to my daughter who was sitting in the car at the curb to ask her what it was called( it was a funko pop thing). The cashier stopped ringing up the customer, came over to the door , opened it a little and said " it doesn't matter how much you yell I'm not unlocking the door until 7:30 I have customers to ring, I have to go to the bathroom and other stuff to do!" The young man and I were both shocked. I then asked her who does she think that she's talking to like that?! She just kept saying " I'm not opening the door!" As she closed it back. When she was done with the customer she let the customer out( barely opening the door). Looked at us, smiled then went into the side office and stayed in there. A few minutes later about 6 or 7 children rode up on their bikes. One heavy set boy pulled on the door, looked in and started knocking saying " Mom". Then he rode around the back and came back to the front and banged on the window yelling " Mom!" Then the cashier peeked out of the office door and saw him then came all of the way out of the office and signaled for him to go to the back. Which he did. Then the other boys started following him. I'm guessing she let them all in through the back door. I don't know because I decided to leave. I understand that we all have high stress days and have to work. I wasn't upset that she needed to clear out some people before letting more people in. However, the lack of professionalism after that was terrible and uncalled for. It's sad that businesses have no choice but to hire these type of people but she needed to be...
Read moreSad to still see so much open space in this once very busy little Mall. It is no longer a mall (it hasn't been for years, they just kept the name) but rather a strip center anchored by Acme. There are a couple attractive spaces, including Ollie's Discount Store and Dollar Tree amoung others. Bookending the strip is "Speedway" an enormous indoor go-kart race track, great for kids and adults alike. It's a little pricey, but worth it. They built a small strip on the other side of the parking lot of this established Center, but as of yet, only one store occupies the strip, a Wine and Spirits Shoppe, which replaced the small liquor store that was inside Acme. The other 2 stores have remained vacant for over a year. It seems a total waste of space, as was the long-vacant inner area of the main strip, where the newly-opened Habitat for Humanity ReStore now occupies. Hopefully these new stores will drive more traffic to this historic Center, and the current vacant stores will soon be occupied by something other than the "usual" types of stores. It would be a shame to put your run-of-the-mill store in a Center that is finally starting to once again establish itself as a standout Shopping Center, offering a set of truly unique stores and venues, where customers would be willing to park their cars and stay awhile. A fun little cafe would likely do well, as shoppers would likely take a break to grab...
