I rarely bad leave reviews, but my recent visit to the GameStop in Friendswood, Texas was so frustrating that I feel obligated to speak up. I came in with a simple request to ask about a trade-in and check availability on a specific title. Instead, I was met with rudeness and condescension from an employee named Mathew.
From the moment I walked in, Mathew seemed disinterested and annoyed to even be there. When I asked a question, he cut me off mid-sentence, acted like I was wasting his time, and gave one-word answers without even looking at me. I tried to clarify my question about trade-in value, and he rolled his eyes and said, “It’s on the website,” as if I should have known better than to ask a human being in person.
It didn’t stop there he acted irritated when I asked to see a game behind the counter, and when I said I might come back after thinking it over, he sarcastically muttered something under his breath as I walked out. I don’t know what kind of customer service training GameStop provides, but whatever it is, Mathew clearly missed it.
This store used to be a reliable stop for me, but after this experience, I’ll take my business elsewhere. If you care about being treated with basic respect, I recommend avoiding this location or at least hoping someone other than Mathew is working...
Read moreA while back the husky white man who works the counter asked me for my ID. This wouldn’t have been a problem, except that he was extremely rude and crass about it stating that it’s the “law”. It’s not. ESRB ratings are not a legal age restriction. They are a suggestion. I was buying the TEEN rated Star Wars battlefront 2. I’m a 5’11 220 pound 21 year old who looks nothing like a teen. I usually don’t even get ID’d while purchasing alcohol. He also requested the ID of my girlfriend who is also 21 while claiming I was “buying the game for a minor”. What kind of rude loser tries to leverage the “power” of selling video games? I have had wonderful experiences at the store just outside the mall and the one on Bay Area Blvd. The employees at the Bay Area location, especially the employee with dreadlocks, are very knowledgeable and kind. Go there instead.
In short, the employees here are incredibly rude and misinformed. Go to any other GameStop in the area and they will treat you like an adult...
Read moreThis Gamestop is located inside the food court of the Baybrook Mall. The store is literally surrounded by the various restaurants and food/drink vendors of the food court.
I just purchased a Boba Tea and went next door into Gamestop to take a look around. Immediately, I was denied service and told to leave for bringing a sealed soft drink with a lid into the store. The employee greeted me by saying, "No food or drinks allowed in the store." And suggested I leave my drink on the floor outside.
Mind you, this is the ONLY store in the mall that has outright rejected a customer for possessing a soft drink on the premises. This is beyond ludicrous for a business that is barely surviving and located within an actual food court in a mall.
I'm not sure what they're hoping to achieve with such a policy other than to keep the few remaining customers they have away. I am very disappointed as I have such fond memories of Gamestop from...
