5 stars for sleep number, the mattress and brand. 3 stars for this store. When we bought our bed...We wouldn't have bought there if we hadn't already known we wanted a bed. We were the only customers in the store and there were 3 salesmen. It took 15 minutes before anyone came to talk to us. We then had that salesman to ourselves. After about 15 minutes, another couple came in. Our salesman immediately dropped us to go attend to them. 5 minutes later, another couple came in. Same salesman went to attend to them. Meanwhile, 2 salesmen were standing behind a counter. And we had questions which could not be answered. After 5 minutes, another couple came in. Yep, you guessed it. Same salesman was attending to us all.
By then, we were ready to complete our purchase. We were not applying for credit so it was just ring it up and go. Did our salesman do that? No. He ran a credit application for the couple that arrived after us. We had to sit and watch them get their credit approved. Finally, while we and the second couple to arrive were waiting for their credit to be run, the other two salesmen jumped in and helped couples three and four. Meanwhile, couple number two was completed before we were given the time of day.
Apparently their commissions are also based on credit applications. So with us paying cash, we were less money in the pocket for our salesman.
Like I said, if we hadn't already known we were making a purchase, we never would have done so at this store. What we needed to know was which mattress would suit us best. And it turned out to not be the one we thought we wanted with online browsing. Going into the store is necessary.
A final note. Our salesman was pushing delivery on us so our old mattress could be hauled away. Delivery would take "10-14 days". Shipping, we were told, while much cheaper, would take "14 days to be sure" we finally opted for shipping vs delivery. We had our new bed within 5 days and it was super simple to setup with great directions on how to do so. We also ordered pillows but our salesman didn't seem to know what pillow was what, so we got the wrong thing. We went back to exchange those and that was another ordeal. At this point our pillows are now corrected and with our new pillows, new mattress, and new bedding, my husband and I haven't slept so well in years. Our old mattress (that our sons have now inherited - split king, so 2 twins) was a temperpedic. We will never recommend that brand to anyone. Read moreMy husband and I went into this store in early June just to look at a bed. We were very interested in the cooling system and was told it was on sale for 20% off. After applying for financing and ready to leave David, our team member, told us he had made a mistake and it wasn't on sale. We were going to have to call back and order it later in the week if we wanted any sort of sale. We ended up walking out with the intentions of ordering the cooling system the next week and were going to pick-up a bed that was originally a floor model at the Pearland store. We were told that everything would be included in the floor model bed and if we were missing anything they would help us get it. David was the team member helping us out. We got to Pearland and found out that the bed was missing the outer foam walls so this new bed that we had to pick up, was not complete. Over 6 weeks later I finally had to call to figure out why we had still not received the foam walls. They said they were on back order and we would get them later. At this point I already had looked at the instruction manual and realized that our king mattress was also missing the center foam piece. I mentioned that this would also need to be ordered and I was assured again that we would get everything we needed. We finally did get the outer foam walls but the center foam wall wasn't even showing up in my sleep number orders. I gave David another call and was told that the message would be relayed to him. He called back and apologized but said he would get the order in right away. We are now over 2 months since we purchased this bed. In that time I've called this sleep number store asking to speak to David over 6 times. Each time I've never received a phone call back. Extremely disappointed with the service I have received. If you want a sleep number bed go somewhere else, you won't get the service or the items you were promised. I will continue to call back because I paid for an entire bed with all the pieces. Read moreMy wife and I have been wanting to experience a Sleep Number bed for a while now. After another $1000.00 plus thrown in the trash by buying an expensive mattress guaranteed for 10yrs but doesn't last 10 months, we decided to visit the store in Baybrook Mall (Friendswood, TX). We were approached by Latoya Hopes. After our brief introduction to one another and explaining our frustration with mattresses that don't hold up to their promises, she explained what she was going to do to solve that problem. She introduced us to two different beds and then asked us to choose one in the middle of the two she had chosen. On the first one she showed us a 3-D image of how our bodies penetrated the mattress and where our pressure points were. She then adjusted our numbers where there were no more red images. What a difference it made! We were sold on the first one. However, we were anxious to try the next two. After an enjoyable time of laughing and carrying on as if we had known each other for years, we came to a decision. We purchased the King i8 smart bed. We only had one major problem throughout our time there, but the problem was never with Latoya. It was with the phone calls she was receiving during our visit. The phone rang at least 25 times during our visit, which would have been fine and acceptable if the party on the other end would have ever spoken back after her welcoming speech she always had to say when answering. Not sure if it is the phone system or just rude people, but it was very annoying. She said that it happens every day. I hope management takes heed and tries to fix the problem. My wife decided to write management a long letter before leaving. Anyway, to sum this all up, if ever we are in need of anything from Sleep Number, we will always go back to Latoya.
