I say this after coming from a background of learning Tae Kwon Do from a pay for your belt, franchized instituion in the suburbs.

Unlike those programs, I can easily say that observing the masters at work at KMA has shown me that there are schools with masters that don't just take on students for more money. KMA is not only a reputable business, but a respectable school that takes good care of its students and its staff.

While some Tae Kwon Do's will just take on students for the sake of money and pass them on to the next belt, so long as their parents or students pay. KMA cares about you to actually learn the martial art, as well as the disciplines that come with it. From just a few of the observations I have made, students are given honest assesments from the masters, as to whether they are ready to go on to the next form or if they need to work on certain skillsets. I have watched many of my 'blackbelt' friends from my Tae Kwon Do days, lack the balance and form to properly perform the techniques we learned at our school, yet they still got passed on so long as they could do the bare minimum. KMA goes to the extent of assuring excellence in those who learn under them. From the children that sign up at an early age to the adults that take classes here, all of them receive the disciplined and nurturing care of the masters.

And while I grew up with masters that only addressed me by pointing me out and saying 'you', KMA students have the benefit of actually being known by their masters. By name. I have seen the masters here out shopping recognize students out of uniform, which lets you know that they aren't just reading their names off their uniforms or belts. They actually know their students, and care to help them become great martial artists.

There is actual relationship developed between master and pupil, as opposed to just business and customer. Students will not only gain master that care about them, they will have a teacher who knows them well enough personally to help them with their unique problems or obstacles in master Tae Kwon Do.

KMA was recommended to us by a Korean friend that was committed to finding a place where the master was truly certified by all Korean standards. So sure, we trusted the paperwork and had our 5 yr old join the trial class. Our son wouldn’t stop crying from the moment we stepped on the door: afraid of everything new, afraid of not knowing what to do, you name it. Master Park was suuuuuper gentle with him, extremely patient and attentive, without missing a beat with any of the other kids in the class. There were also two other instructors in the class for an incredible ratio of 2 kids per instructor. All of them were excellent with the kids, making the class super engaging, fun, and at the same time, giving them real martial arts discipline, structure and skill. My crying kid slowly started to smile and left the class beaming, so happy. We could not express how amazing KMA is all around, we’re so happy we ended up here.
