Pyburns Farm Fresh Foods — Attraction in Houston

Pyburns was #1 of my list to shop at, but Today that changed. This morning my husband and my 9yr old son went into the Scott location to pick up a few things. It is cold outside and my son is always told to wear his hood because he gets sick very easily because he has chronic asthma. When they walked into the Scott St. Location, the HPD Officer that is working the front stopped my son and told him to remove his hoodie. Ignoring the fact that his parent was right in front of him. After my husband said something to the officer, he was told by another customer whom is a regular there that the officer is known for harassing people. To make matters worse, my son came home upset and told me that he felt he was racially profiled. My son is mixed with African American (as could be seen by his father) and Puerto Rican. The officer was African American. No ADULT should speak directly to a child in the first place in that matter, but my child is 9 and now has experienced how bad racial profiling is and this is ridiculous that he had to experience not only at such a early age but just from a simple trip to the grocery store. Great!!! Visited for 2nd time. The 1st time I went I noticed the line to pay is formed in front of the counter and people didn't want to move so we could view the food. I suppose they thought we were trying to skip the line. Ridiculous!!! But anyway we didn't have a good idea or feel about the place so we left without purchasing anything. Plus it was inside a........Grocery store!!! Yeah!!! I said Grocery store. Anyway, we left without purchasing anything that day. The 2nd visit wasn't intense. There was no line. The staff wasn't hurried and frazzled. So we were able to ask 1st timers questions and decide on the particular food items we wanted and so forth. The carry-out container you get is the smaller size so the portions aren't as big as these kinds of places typically serve but for $6.99 with a free 16oz bottle water, thats worth it for sure. My friend Lionese told me about it and I will certainly tell others....

I was only here, for a quick stop. Needed fish crawfish boil. It was clean, nice, and quiet. But hey it's not food stamp day so 🤷🏽‍♀️🤣.

The cashier had an attitude. But I don't believe it had, anything to do with the customers. Because there weren't many there.

As she was checking me out, a Caucasian manage. Rudely stated to her "you're done after this". I said ooh so rude. Not sure if he heard me. Then he says to her turn you're light off, and cash out your drawer. Then says you're not in trouble.

There's always a better delivery, than the one he presented. If she's not in trouble, why speak to her in that tone. In front of a customer at that. Disrespect is never accepted by me. No matter...
