I signed my 8 year old great-grandson up for five one hour lessons during our recent yearly visit to Hull. He had never been on a board before. He absolutely loved it! His instructor (Ronnie Lees) worked with him and got him up on the board, cruising to the beach the first hour. By the end of lesson #5, he was paddling out on his own, starting out on his own (no push), accomplishing simple turns and routinely surfing all the way to the beach. Being a Minnesota kid, this was a truly unique experience. Our only dilemma...next year do we sign him up for another five hour package, or a full camp? Needless to say, he wants to do both.

I took a 5 day surf camp with Northeast Surfing this summer. Not only that, but I have also done single lessons in the past. I have always been pleased with the instruction, preparation, and hands-on teaching from everyone I have surfed with at Northeast Surfing. They are fun, professional, and clearly know their information. Even when I asked questions that the instructor of the day couldn't answer, they were quick to point me to someone who could, or followed up with the information later. Beyond the instruction though, the thing that stands out about Northeast Surfing is the level of care from the owner. He is so dedicated to the sport and quick to offer resources, recommendations, and honest assessments of where each person is at, the best places for boards/equipment, and anything else. In all of my interactions he has been quick to let people know they can always call, text, or reach out for any help outside of lessons. The willingness to help and provide instruction in any setting goes so far above and beyond what you would expect for the price, that I will absolutely be returning to...

Just when I thought my son had done it all, surfing entered the chat!! As a kid I always wanted to learn how to surf but never thought it was possible being from the city. Nantasket has been our go to beach for as long as I can remember but never knew Northeast surfing was just a little further down the beach. When a friend reached out about this hidden gem, my son was here the next day taking lessons. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. My son felt safe and confident and within minutes was catching his first wave. The pure joy and excitement that took over him brought a tear to my eye. My son convinced me to take a lesson with him and I must admit I did not think I would be able to do it anymore. But, with this amazing staff and my son’s helpful tips I was riding my first wave! Happy to say that at 10 years old and 41 years old, we have a new mother son hobby to add to the list. We were both very proud and happy for each other’s success! This was more than just a surf lesson. This was an incredibly special moment I got to share with my son while he thinks I’m still a cool mom!! Take...

This was my first surf lesson and I was really excited to give this a try. When I arrived, the instructor wasn't there but a nice young lady Neve greeted me and offered me a free Italian ice which was very tasty! Then the owner, Ron arrived and was very friendly as he introduced himself and Joe, my instructor. I put on the wetsuit (backwards) but they got me straightened out quickly. Joe and I walked a few blocks down to Nantasket beach where the surfboards were already staged. Joe explained the basics of surfing including safety precautions and body positioning to be able to get from the paddling position to standing on the board to riding a wave. We then headed out into the water. The conditions were amazing and Joe's instruction had me standing up and surfing in about 15 minutes! I highly recommend checking out Northeast Surfing for your first surf lesson or surfboard rental. I can't wait to go there again...
